When you find a piece of clothing or pair of shoes you like, do you buy it in more than one color? A great lady I worked with–Peggy–was a master at this strategy. She bought a favorite shoe in every color. Same for pants. While we often teased her about it, we saw it was a great way to ensure that she had the right fit and could extend her wardrobe. When you find a piece of clothing that works, it makes sense to buy more than one in a style and colors you can wear. The same is true of my newest find–Cariuma sneakers!
I have one pair and will certainly pick up another as they come in 10 colors!
Ads for these sneakers have popped up in various places. On online newspaper ads and on Facebook. After seeing it a number of times, and liking the look as well as the claims, I decided to read up on the particulars.
The Cariuma Sneakers
The brand is Cariuma, a company in Rio, Brazil. They advertise the following features for their shoes:
- Handmade
- Memory foam insole with hybrid leather for support
- Natural rubber outsole
- Fully stitched outsole
Their slogan is “Old World Sneakers, New World Ethics.” Who doesn’t like the sound of that? These comments prove their commitment to ethics:
- Made with fair-trade cotton
- Guaranteeing that farmers have fair working conditions and receive fair wages
- Responsible use of the land
Besides a commitment to ethics, by “old school,” they are referring to style which harkens back to the cool Converse look we all know and love. How many of you have a pair of Converse sneakers lying around? I have a great pair, in pink, that I pull out every so often. The downside is that they are very flat with little support–something I value more and more as buy my shoes, as comfort is key. It may be that age has something to do with it, too! Lol! These Cariuma sneakers, like Converse, have a unique toe cap and a low profile, making them both cool and comfortable.
Canvas Sneakers | Knit Sneakers
The shoes arrived in three days! The packaging is all recycled materials and their promise is to make up for the carbon emissions used in shipping by purchasing carbon offsets, creating a footprint balance of zero.
As we all become more mindful of sustainable clothing, all of these claims are positive and definitely make me feel good about purchasing these sneakers.
Best of all, of course, is how cute they are!! They come in 10 colors, including red and yellow, and in both high and low styles.
The Outfit
Wide leg linen pants in white are perfect to wear with sneakers and a great spring and summer look. These came in a recent Trunk Club by Nordstrom selection. They are available in Regular and Petite and the fit is incredible, right out of the box. I expect to get lots of wear from these and expect you will see them styled many ways in future posts. Hint: they are amazingly inexpensive for lined linen pants!
Linen Crops | Satin Top | Rash Guard Jacket
The yellow top is rumpled satin and can be dressed up or worn casually, as I have here. Another great buy! Because of the rumpled nature of the fabric, it will be easily packable for that future trip!
Both the top and the linen pants could easily be styled for a professional work outfit, giving them a high cost-per-wear ratio.
This adorable seersucker jacket is from Lands End. It’s always great to find a basic piece in an unexpected pattern or fabric and this stretch fabric is amazing. The fabric provides UPF 50 sun protection, so it’s a great summer piece.
The color combo of this outfit–blue, white, and yellow–is a perfect summer combination.
If you are looking for some great sneakers, check out these Cariuma sneakers. Expect to be surprised and delighted by the excellent quality and super cool style.
I love the yellow! This is the 2nd outfit with white pants today that I want to recreate! So summery and happy! And it reminds me to use belts more often!

I know–I’m kind of into belts right now, too! White pants just seem perfect at this time of year, don’t they? And yellow is my go-to favorite, but of course, any color works! Thanks, Mireille! You’ve done some great outfit recreates lately! So fun to get inspiration from each other, isn’t it?

Oh, I’m glad you took a look at them! I was very impressed with their social consciousness. Yes, the green and rose are SO cute, too. Let me know if you get a pair and how you like them.

Thanks, sweet Gemma! Our flowers really came in beautifully this year after all the rain we had in March, so thanks for noticing! I really love these sneakers–they come in 10 colors and I’m trying to decide which ones I really need (want) next. I’m taking a look at that Brazilian Touch Hand Sanitizer you’re writing about. It would be nice to have a scent that is really nice in that product!

I love those sneakers! Such a yummy shade of yellow. Your entire outfit looks so crisp and ready for spring. Just lovely!
