Wow, the holiday season is flying by, despite weeks–even months–of preparation, right? And here we are on the cusp of the new year–the final weekend of 2018! Are you in need of some last-minute inspiration for a New Year’s Eve outfit? Well, look no further.
I love to use skirts for holiday outfits as they as so versatile. You can style them many ways both dressy and casual, from the workplace to an evening event. So you always get your money’s worth and have lots of options.
Read on for the details.
New Year’s Eve Outfit
A midi skirt is such a great look for any occasion and this one does not disappoint. It was part of my latest Trunk Club selection from Nordstrom. I can’t deny it–it feels like Christmas every month when my Trunk Club arrives. I don’t purchase everything, and don’t feel obligated to do so.
If you haven’t tried Trunk Club yet, do. You won’t be sorry. You can choose the price point you like, too. I chose moderate with the occasional pricier item for something unusual.
The fabric on the skirt is poplin with a dotted tulle underskirt peeking out. The tulle makes it perfect for parties and evening wear! And the best part? Pockets! Oh, yeah. I’m not sure what it is about pockets, but they just make any piece of clothing more fun!
My OTHER favorite part of this skirt is that it comes both in regular and petite. It’s nice when a “midi” skirt actually hits mid-point on the leg on me! Lol!
If you prefer a bit more tulle, here is super cute one that is similar, with a tulle outer skirt in the same price range. It also comes in regular and petite.
The top is so fun! It’s a bold red leopard print with a high neck which is perfect for a cool evening event. And it’s on sale! It runs a bit small, so order a size–or two–up, depending on how you like your tops to fit.
This is one of those stylish tops that go so easily from work to party. It would look fabulous under a blazer for a work outfit.
Shoes and Accessories
OK, it turns out that shoes are also considered accessories, according to this definition from Quora Digest:
Accessories that are worn may include jackets, boots and shoes, cravats, ties, hats, bonnets, belts and suspenders, gloves, muffs, jewelry, watches, sashes, shawls, scarves, socks, and stockings.
Just in case you didn’t know–like me!! Haha!
I am still loving these block-heeled shoes from last season. They are from Sole Society which has cute shoes at reasonable prices. They are still available in black and 5 other colors including leopard and a pretty floral print–you can see them here.
You could also make the outfit a bit more trendy with some hot booties. These wine-colored booties, also by Sole Society would look super cute–and they are on sale!!
Of course, a hot pair of statement earrings is a must for evening wear and totally required for a New Year’s Eve outfit! These are no longer available as I purchased them from the Anniversary Sale, but here are some cute beaded drop earrings that would look super with this top!
A cute little bag completes the look. This one has a faux fur handle that makes it cute and fun. And it’s just the right size. And the right price. Another adorable Target find. You do not need to spend a lot on a bag you will only use a few times. Go for cutest instead!
Next week I will start a series on Winter Looks, so stay tuned. Let me know if you are interested in anything in particular!
Enjoy the final weekend of 2018!
