Have you noticed all the ochre pants in stores right now? It’s such a great color for the Autumn season that is ripe with shades right out of nature.
In case you’re wondering, here is a description: Ochre is a series of brown, yellow and red colors that are produced by clay pigments that contain ferric oxide, also known as rust.
Hence, the element of nature we see in earthy-colored pieces like these.
There are SO many ways to wear this shade and not just in pants, but today I’m sharing a natural styling that works well with ochre pants.
The Ochre Pants Outfit
The Ochre Pants
First, the pants. While you can find similar shades in many stores, mine are slim ankle jeans from Talbots. If you wear petite, they are such a great option. Their size 6 petite pants always fit me perfectly, and I refuse to buy pants that have to be hemmed or altered. #spoiled They also come in Misses, Plus, and Plus Petite sizes.
I do wear regular misses sizes for tops, however. What can I say, short legs, long arms? Lol! We do have to fit our bodies, with all their idiosyncrasies, right? I just prefer a regular fit in tops and jackets.
I’m sharing some additional options below so that you can find the best fit and style for your body.
This earthy, rusty shade is a natural pairing for animal prints. SO, I’ve pulled out all the animal prints I can find to inspire you to try this color!
First off, I’ve been wanting to share this adorable smocked leopard tank top with you. It’s a bargain (from Amazon) and can be worn lots of ways. While I’m styling it casually here, it would make a cute dress-up look with black trousers or a pencil or maxi skirt.
I love the ruffles on the shoulder straps!
Remember this adorable leopard ruffle off-shoulder top I styled in the post, Jeans Outfits from The Nordstrom Sale? Well, it just so happens to look fab with these ochre pants! Gotta love that, right? And it’s still available.
For a variety of styles in this exact print, take a look at this page with leopard print tops. So many cute options if off-shoulder isn’t your thing.
For a more traditional styling, how about a leopard print blouse? Mine is an older one from Chico’s that I wear a lot. It looks as cute with jeans and a studded belt as it does with a pencil skirt.
Here are some similar animal print blouses available at Chicos currently– with more rust in the print. Perfect!
Add a boyfriend blazer, and you have a professional look!
You can see this color would look amazing with lots of colors. Basic black, of course. A white blouse or tee and jacket. An off-white tank and cardigan. A colorblock cardigan. The list goes on…
And the Shoes…
As a person with a serious shoe fetish, I showed three of my fall favorites here.:
Vince Camuto Block Heel Slide Sandals (brown and black)
Steve Madden Pointy-Toe Chain Mules (three colors)
Express Slingback Kitten Heels (black and tan)
Despite the fairly clear description of the color ochre I shared above, there are lots of interpretations for this shade of brown/rust. The hues range from yellowish-brown to orangey-brown and many shades in between. So you can pick the version of this color that works best for you! I’m sharing a variety of styles at various price points.
Here’s a cute Varsity Cardigan Tipped in Ochre.
If you haven’t yet tried this pretty autumn shade, start with a pair of ochre pants as I have here. They will be a very versatile piece to have in your closet.
