Today I am sharing an olive tank dress outfit, that is perfect for our warm summer weather and will easily transition into the fall. WHAT?!!
What about all the fall presales?! Like the Nordstrom Sale?! How could I possibly write about summer fashion? So passe. Lol! Have you been obsessed with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? Or just blew it off? A case can absolutely be made for going either way. As a fashion blogger, I feel compelled to check out the sale items and share my favorites with all of you. Just in CASE you’re interested! But really, everyone, it is STILL SUMMER! And from what I see on the news, the weather is pretty warm across the county and in Canada and Europe. That is certainly the case here in Southern California, though thankfully, temps are back down into the 70’s and 80’s.
So, while I wait for my many bargains to arrive from Nordstrom, I will continue to share summer outfits. There is still lots of inventory for summer items and some bargains to be had. And let’s face it, many of us will be dressing for warm weather well into the fall, right? Especially my blogging friends from the South, including Texas and Florida.
The olive tank dress outfit
This was one of those sale rack bargains I picked up a couple of months ago. Since it was olive-green, another favorite of mine, I knew I could do a lot with it. Today I am styling it as a summer look, with flat sandals and some beautiful pearl pieces, made by my very talented BFF, Kathi. And by-the-way, I leave tomorrow to spend a week with her and I’m really excited to spend time together. We only see each other once or twice a year, but it’s like we were never apart.
If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know that we are expert shoppers and have a ball driving all over Northern Michigan to check out the clothing. In fact, my very first posts featured my trip to Northern Michigan, and my fashion finds from that area. As I look at those posts now, I can see that I have definitely learned a bit about blogging and upped my game! Haha! Thank goodness. You can see my very first post here featuring my trip to Northern Michigan and another post here from our trip last year. So many shopping options: too little time!
Lace-up Swing Dress (inexpensive)
This tank dress is very basic, and the olive-green is a great neutral, so there are lots of options for styling this. I could see it in the fall over leggings with a tee underneath, for example. Or with tights and high boots, and a camo henley underneath. You get the idea. Target has a large number of olive-green dress options right now, with those amazing, affordable prices. You can take a look here. There are SO many cute options!!
I included the two photos above as you can see our family fur-babies, Scooter and Sergeant. Always underfoot just in case there is a pet to be had!
Two strap slide sandals (similar)
The cardigan, slide sandals and circle bag
These slide sandals are so versatile with the two-tone straps. And I love a neutral shoe like this! They also come in many other colors and are super comfy.
How many cardigan sweaters do you have in your closet? I have too many to count. And many of them are from Target. I am a big fan of these basic pieces as you can so easily throw them on if there is a chill in the air. So, when I saw this cute sweater with the palm fronds, I had to add it to my collection! Haha! Love a tropical look! It will look great with jeans now and later with a turtleneck. There were quite a few turtlenecks in the #NSale!
Large round straw bag (pricey-black only) | Less expensive version (Less than $35!)
This large woven straw circle bag came in my Trunk Club box. I love the size and it’s very well-made but super expensive. This other bag is very similar and very cute as well! I don’t like to spend a lot on seasonal pieces, but this circle bag could certainly serve for many summers.
SO, if it’s still summer where you are, put together an olive tank dress outfit, like this one, and you will be SUMMER READY! Stay cool: it’s still summer!
Hi Darlene
I am all still for summer clothing. i looked at the nordstrom sale, like every blogger, but didnt post much on it. I did buy a moto jacket I am waiting on, in a burgundy shade. i am pretty conservative when it comes to the sale. Love your dress, I am a big fan of olive, or kahki and love the carefree look here.

Hi Jess,
Yes, I did buy some things from the Sale, but I really can’t wear a lot of that for some time, so stuck to basics and shoes. I will share some next week. Can’t wait to see your moto jacket in burgundy! I did buy a black one at last years’ sale, and it was well worth it. Yes, I’ve seen you in olive a few times, and it’s a great color on you! Thanks for sponsoring the Link Up!

This is such a useful item to have in the summer months Darlene, and you look great wearing it. I’m English and we are experiencing such a hot summer this year. Anything that swings gets a thumbs up by me xx
Hi Maria,
I keep following the crazy heat and the UK is certainly getting it! I agree that a swing anything is great! Thanks for the nice comments. Have a lovely day.

Another great look, Darlene, and just the kind of thing I enjoy wearing. I think our climates must similar because that outfit would fit right in where I am too. Hugs, x.
Thanks, Mary. I think you’re right! I’m trying to figure out where you live, but I suspect our climates our similar! Have a great week!
