Can you see yourself lounging in the sand on a warm tropical island? Me, too! Whether your weather is cooperating or not, you can still get that island vibe. Try this palm leaf kimono outfit, and you’ll be ready for summer.
Kimonos have been a hot fashion item for the last several years. And there’s a good reason for that: they are super easy to style. They can take something as simple as shorts and a tee and turn it into a romantic flowing look just by throwing it over your shoulders.
I’ve styled several in past posts and use them all the time to extend my wardrobe. Here are just a few of the posts featuring kimono outfits:

Best of all, you really don’t have to spend very much on a kimono. They come in so many patterns, colors, and styles and you can pick one up at all price points. The one I’m sharing today was less than $20. Can’t beat that, right?
Palm Leaf Kimono Outfit
Do you find that as we get closer to summer and the days are sunnier and longer, you look for tropical prints? Me, too! Just wearing one of these prints makes one feel more carefree! This palm leaf kimono does exactly that.
It’s one of those Amazon finds that you just can’t resist. While I have several shorter kimonos, this is my first in the maxi length. I can picture styling it many ways, both more formally as well as casually. I’ll be styling it in future posts both ways.
It can also serve as a cover up for your bathing suit. So, it makes a great piece to pack for your next sunny vacation. You can just add a belt to wear around the pool!
White jeans are wearable year-round, and they give such a crisp look to any spring or summer outfit. These are an old favorite pair from Articles of Society, and I also recommend this pair of Ab-Solution Jeans from Wit and Wisdom. But the important thing is that you find a pair that fit your body and make you feel good.
The spruce green tank is also an older one. I bought these in several colors some time ago and have styled them again and again in a variety of ways to create different looks. Here is a great selection of colors for Chico’s stretch tanks, at under $20!
The Accessories Make the Look
This necklace and earring set is my favorite selection from Kendra Scott. While this brand costs a bit more, the quality and unique designs are well worth it. Click to see the Abalone Kendra Scott earrings and the Abalone Pendant Necklace. The great thing about the necklace is the adjustable slide that allows you to wear it longer as I did here, or even as a choker.
It’s not surprising that straw and woven bags are everywhere this spring. For spring and summer, these bags give your outfits that summer vibe we all strive for. While the round woven bags are still popular, some of the newest styles include square, bucket, hobo and clutch bags. Another element trending is square or round handles with straw, like the square woven bag I’m styling. Once again, you don’t have to spend a lot to add some spring style to your look with these fun bags.
Finally, the shoes. All styles of espadrilles are trending, once again, for spring. These platform espadrilles are SUPER comfortable and give that needed bit of height. They are fashionable, yet sensible and come in five neutral colors and a saucy red. They are from Naturalizer, who, quite honestly, I thought I would NEVER buy from. They are old lady shoes, right?! Just goes to show you to NEVER say NEVER! They have lots of trendy styles to choose from and provide comfort, too. A definite win/win.
Kimonos are for Everyone
My very lovely Mother-in-Law has been a member of and served on the board for a national women’s group for most of her adult life. And she has an ageless classic style. When she asked me what I would recommend she wear to a function with a garden party theme, guess what I suggested? Yes–a floral kimono!! Since she wanted to wear pants, it was the perfect solution to turn her pants outfit into a garden party look. I’ll include a picture of her styling her kimono in a future post, so watch for that!
Wishing you a sunny spring day~
