Really, ladies, is there anything more vibrant than pink and red outfits? This color combo just pops, so when you truly want to make a statement, give this combination a go.
In this post, I’m styling three pieces: a red skirt, a pink sweater, black jeans, and a striped sweater, all in combinations of pink and red, with a little black on the side. Let’s get started!
Pink and Red Outfit #1
In my last post, I showed how easy it is to style up a basic outfit made up of a pink sweater and jeans. By pairing the pink with red accessories, the whole outfit took on a new look. The same is true for this next outfit.
This look takes the basic pieces from the jeans outfit above to a little higher level in terms of dressiness. I took the same slouchy pastel pink sweater and paired it with the pleated skirt and voila! A whole new look!
I’ve styled this red pleated skirt more times than I can count. As a keeper piece from Target some years ago, I can definitely say the cost-per-wear is quite low, making it a great buy!
One of my favorite posts featured the skirt with a cute graphic sweatshirt in honor of women.
Pleated Skirt (Regular and Petite) | Sweater (also comes in bright red) | Pumps | Cuff Bracelet
Pink and Red Outfits with Stripes
For the next red and pink outfits, I’m styling a little different look with the addition of black. This older Target sweater by WhoWhatWear takes the pink and red theme to another level with the addition of black stripes. This sweater was a piece that I wasn’t too sure about but ended up liking a lot. I first styled it a LONG time ago in the post, Pattern Mixing in a Gingham Skirt and Striped Sweater. Remember when we were all in love (once again) with gingham? I still love the two patterns together!
Since most of us won’t be going anywhere in particular for Valentine’s Day, you can style almost any pink or red top with basic black pants or jeans. And we all have THOSE in our closets! (Oh, such fond memories of going out as we did LAST Valentine’s Day before the first lockdown! Who’d have thought that word–lockdown– would become part of our everyday vocabulary?)
Pink and Red Sweater (dissimilar but very cute!) | Black Jeans | Wedge Booties
Since I already had this cute little striped sweater in the V-Day appropriate colors, I just put the two together. As the weather has been on-again 0ff-again either cold or rainy, my wedge booties made the perfect shoe choice.
The red in the sweater was also a great match with my gold ol’ pleated skirt, making another option for a striking red ensemble for a future Valentine’s Day or date night event. One can dream, right?
I couldn’t decide whether the sweater looked better tucked or out. Hmm, what do you think?
Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with your honey or all by yourself, pull out some pieces and put together a festive pink and red outfit to honor this holiday with the ones you love, whether they are with you in person or close in your heart.
Oh I definitely see all sorts of things to improve my outfits after I have photographed them! Doesn’t hat happen to all of us?! I don’t know if you need to tuck into the black jeans though. I think you have a enough of the solid black from your waist down to keep the proportions most flattering. I always keep the rule of thirds in mind.

Ah, such good advice re the rule of thirds! I will remember that next time. Thanks, Shelbee. That’s why this is so fun–we learn so much from each other!!

Oh wow, Darlene, I have lots to say! LOL First of all, va-va-voom, my friend, in the striped sweater with black jeans! You look amazing and I love the sassy modern vibe of that combination. Also, loving pink and red together. I really like the monochromatic look of the striped sweater with the pleated skirt, too. It is very flattering both tucked and untucked, but I think tucked gives it a better proportion on your frame. But untucked gives a very casual laid back cool girl vibe which I really like, too. Great post!

Great, thank you for the feedback, Shelbee! I’m a bit long-waisted (meaning short-legged!), so it’s always hard to decide but I agree that tucked works well for that. Maybe I should’ve tucked the sweater into the jeans? I always see room for improvement once I see the photos–do you do that? Thanks for the lovely comments, my friend!!

I think red and pink looks gorgeous together! And that pleated skirt is amazing. Enjoy your Sunday.
Thanks, Nancy. This is a bargain skirt I picked up a few years ago and it sure gets used and worn! Happy Sunday evening to you, my friend.

Pink and red with a little black is a gorgeous stylish and romantic combination! I love the pink sweater with the pleated skirt, and the stripey pink and red sweater! This is definitely a combo I will look at for Valentine’s Day.
Thanks, Gail. This combo will look great on you with your blonde hair and fair coloring! I hope you’ll post it so we can see! Happy Sunday! (Evening for you, of course.)

I LOVE pink and red together! I’m loving that pink sweater/red pleated skirt combo.
Where your flowers and greenery are, I’m surrounded by snow snow snow…which I love…but it would be nice to just walk outside in bare legs to do blog photos!
Be well, friend!

Hi Bettye! Good to hear from you, and thanks for the nice comment. I love this combo, too, but, as I keep saying, I forget to wear it except around V-Day! Lol! Yes, we’ve had some rain so the flowers are blooming for now! Rain and wind make for some challenging photo shoots, however! Take care and stay safe and healthy, my friend!

I don’t know why I don’t think to pair pink and red together other times of the year! I just love all of these looks, especially the pink sweater and red pleated skirt!!
