It’s always a bit of challenge to kickstart the energy after the holidays, isn’t it? Well, Winter is here, even in Southern California! What better way to head back to work, like I am, then with a plaid double-breasted blazer outfit! And in the cooler weather, a blazer is a perfect choice.
Today’s outfit tends toward the traditional but with skinny pants and a pink accent to perk things up.
The Double-breasted Blazer Outfit
Are you a fan of the double-breasted blazer? While it’s never been my first choice in a jacket, I do have a few in my wardrobe to shake things up from the traditional one-or two-button. This one is wool, which is always cozy on a cold winter day or in a cold office.
One of the best things about a double-breasted jacket is the bit of shaping that takes place as a result of the longer length and where the buttons tend to hit. That’s a good thing!
This jacket is unlined, which is both a good and not-so-good feature. On the one hand, being unlined makes it easier to wear it under a coat. On the other hand, if you are sensitive to wool, as I am, it can be just a bit on the itchy side. As this was a piece in my Trunk Club by Nordstrom, I’m still trying to decide if I can keep it.
There is a pink stripe in the plaid and I thought a little contrast in color would be a nice touch. So I added an older mauve pink sweater from Loft. I love the look of browns and pinks together. Such a nice color combo.
These pants are a great option for work or casual times. They are a made of a ponte fabric which fits nicely without being tight–something I really like! Especially after the holidays, right? They are a bit trendier due to the zippers at the waist, adding an updated touch. They are actually pull-on with a fake front-zipper look. If you like pull-on pants that don’t look pull-on, you would like these!
Fitted ankle pants look great with flats. These soft pink suede flats are a great staple for workwear and casual looks alike. And you can wear them year-round. (I also styled them here with jeans in a casual outfit.) And of course, flats are super comfortable!
This cute shoulder bag has a pink and gold cast that makes it very versatile. I added two-tone pink statement earrings to offset the masculine style of the jacket and outfit. Both are from Target.
And now, what to cook for dinner? After a hard day back at work, wearing your stylish double-breasted outfit, you just want something simple and delicious, right? Try this recipe…
What to Cook for Dinner at this start of Winter
In looking through Pinterest lately, I’ve noticed a great deal of sheet- or one-pan dinners. And why not? They are super easy to put together, cook in one pan and are on the table very quickly. And best of all, there isn’t too much prep. I found this recipe on Pinterest and put it together for dinner yesterday.
Of course, I changed it up a bit. There was a similar recipe that also added wedges of red onion and grapes. Yes, grapes! They are really good roasted in this dish! And I used chicken breasts instead of thighs. It was hearty and tasty, and fairly healthy. Give it a try on a cold winter’s night.
Wherever and however this post finds you, try to ease into the post-holiday schedule. Style a fashionable outfit with a simple plaid blazer for winter, and prepare an easy and hearty dinner. And, especially, enjoy this next season.
