What does your “date night” look like currently? I’m guessing you are binge-watching TV with your favorite honey–be it partner, child, grandchild, or doggie–in some super comfy jogger pants and a tee. Am I right? At least that’s what it looks like for me! Lol! But date night and nights out generally will be coming back soon so plan to style yours with a bang! Like with the popping pattern of this ruffle neck halter dress.
Even though we will be entering our new normal slowly and carefully, a little pop like the print in this dress is a much-needed diversion from our current situation. If you like a red and pink color combo, you will love this!
My original plan for this dress was as a resort wear piece. You know, for that amazing cruise we had planned! For now, however, my cruise will be a quick trip around town to do a pick-up from a local restaurant! But a dress like this is one that I can wear as I dream about a future vacation.
The Ruffle Neck Halter Dress
The color name kind of says it all. Chili Pop. It’s an affordable little number that comes in two solids (black and green) and two other bright patterns, and a subtle but super cute black and white pattern.
Gibson is the brand, and the dress is part of their Colors of Summer Collection. They make very cute clothing items at reasonable prices. Their Sugarplum line is full of summery resort pieces, great for a summer wedding or event. Most of their pieces come in Regular and Petite which makes them easy to size. I often buy Regular as I like a slightly longer length, but this one is a petite size Small.
The swing style is super flattering on everyone and easy to style. Probably the best part is the bow back. Did I say pockets, too? Gotta love that detail. As usual, details make the dress.
I’ve styled it here with block-heeled sandals, but you could go with Birkenstocks or slides, or even your favorite white sneakers and still have a cute, casual look.
For a handbag, I would use my satchel bag in “canyon” which is a pinkish beige shade to complement the pink flowers and pair nicely with the sandals. It first appeared in the post All Red Dressed Up and No Place to Go. A straw bag would also be a nice addition.
Since this is a halter style, you definitely have to rethink your underthings. A strapless style is always a good choice and this strapless bra is my favorite. Since the style is loose and swingy you don’t even need to think about shapewear, but I would add high leg underwear that goes to the waist for comfort and a smooth line.
If you just can’t stand to wear a strapless style, I get it. Spanx makes a very comfortable racerback underwire bra with their famous soft wide straps that make it so comfortable. You can wear it under most styles where the sleeves are cut in at the shoulder. I have it in black and soft tan.
A final option is to use bra clips to temporarily pull your straps in, much like the racerback style. This is an easy and inexpensive option that works well. You just have to mess a bit to attach them to your straps. You can’t beat the price!
Whatever way you go, add a little color to your date night or night out with a bold print in a bright color. You can practice wearing it now and pull it our for your first venture out into the new normal of our world.
Stay safe and healthy, my friends.
