Staying home to celebrate the holidays this year doesn’t mean having to sacrifice style. You can still look festive, as in this shimmer sweater outfit.
Just adding a piece with a little shimmer can take a basic skirt and pants outfit to a whole new level of style. And rich color can make all the difference, too! Who doesn’t love a little bling and some color, right?
Now, about that outfit…
Shimmer Sweater Outfit
Shimmer Sweater
This pretty pointelle sweater, done in subtly shimmery stripes of plum, mauve, and gold metallic, has a soft, stretchy fit. It has a cute scallop around the neck with puffed shoulders.
It’s a more fitted sweater, so if you like your sweaters roomier, size up.
The Corduroy Pants
Skinny Corduroy Pants (in Wine – 6 other colors available!) (Petite and Regular sizes)
These stretchy pinwale corduroys are from Kut from the Cloth. They define the legs with a hugging fit like a pair of skinny jeans. The stretch, however, makes them comfortable and not too tight. I just happened to pick these up and when I saw the sweater (on sale at Loft!), I saw a perfect piece for a matchy-matchy outfit.
The Accessories
Honestly, just by adding a pair of heels–whether super high or modest, like these–you can literally “elevate” any outfit!
In this photo, I just wanted to show you, once again, how lovely burgundy shades look with leopard print. Most red tones look amazing with this print! In this post, 3 Ways to Style a Leopard Pleated Skirt, you can see how great a bright red blouse looks with a leopard pleated skirt.
These leopard kitten heels are older, and to be honest, ready for a refresh. I have ordered these leopard pumps with a block heel and pointed toes. So, updated and on-trend but with a more comfortable, stable heel at just over 2 1/2 inches. They are the exact same shade of leopard that I prefer, with a darker tan background and a bit of rust in the spots.
This was my designer bag purchase from last year. I do splurge once a year on a quality handbag that I know will last and serve as a classic piece for years to come. It’s from Tory Burch in a Port shade. While this TB handbag is now only available in black, pine green, almond, and gray, all colors are gorgeous. A true classic! If you love the port, there is an almost new Tory Burch bag available on Poshmark. While it’s considered “last year’s color,” it’s a bag I will use every season.
Finally, I don’t know how well you can see them, but these twisted hoop earrings are my new favorites! They are from Express and are on sale. Hoops of all kinds are trending, again, this year, and I love this kind with a bright gold that adds a little bling to an outfit. They also come in silver.
From now through December, I will be adding a Holiday Tip of the Day with fun things I discover in my search for holiday trends. I hope you enjoy them!

Love all of these plum shades on you! I have been wearing some myself. The cords are lovely and I like the mix with the leopard shoes. I am a bag girl too! I bought some of my bags from resellers, a great idea. I am looking at one of my favorite brands, Brahmin. Your bag is a great color.

Thanks for the tip, Jess. I will look at Brahmin in the future. And I realized I could be looking at resellers, too, as most of them are really like new! Thanks for the sweet comment and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thank you, my sweet friend! I seem to gravitate toward plums and burgundies at this time of year! I just received my “refresh” of leopard pumps and I’m excited to share them! Happy Thursday, my friend!

I plan to dress up a little on Thanksgiving, even though we are staying home, too. This shimmery top is so festive and I love the berry colors. Your leopard heels are super cute, too!
