Starting with today’s post, I’m adding a new monthly feature called Shop My Closet. While I often integrate new and old pieces in my posts, I will be sharing looks put together with items already in my closet at least once per month. I will share how to style and restyle many of those items in new and unique ways and hopefully inspire you to do the same.
Thrifting, or Second-hand Shopping
As a fashion blogger, you accumulate more clothing than many of your fashionista friends. And it reaches a point where you begin to feel a bit guilty about this accumulation. More and more bloggers are sharing their finds from thrift shopping. They find good quality pieces, often by designers, at reasonable prices. While I applaud them for that, it just doesn’t quite fit for me. For one, there aren’t many quality thrift shops in my area. I am also a bit squeamish about wearing clothing that others have worn. Does that make me a prude? Lol! I will have to work on that.
I follow several bloggers who include beautiful vintage clothing they picked up at thrift stores. Here are just a couple of them: Jody at Jody’s Touch of Style, Patti at Not Dead Yet Style, and Cheri at Style Nudge. These fashionable ladies are inspiring me to explore thrifting!
There are so many reasons to cut down on consumption of all kinds, including shopping. Perhaps scariest is this statistic: The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world. Yikes! That is quite the thought-provoker for all of us who love fashion and certainly gives me pause.
I would love to hear your reaction to this as well as my Shop My Closet post. Any thoughts and comments on the subject are welcome.
Shop My Closet: Monochromatic Pink
My husband and I had a number of errands to run and planned to have a nice lunch date after. Since we are in between these crazy rainstorms, it’s a sunny day but with a bit of cool wind. So a sweater was definitely called for. I immediately reached for this chenille cardigan, an earlier Target find that is warm, soft and light. I love the dark cherry color! You can view the original post at A Little Maroon …
They are a recent purchase from Trunk Club and have quickly become a favorite for their comfort and the soft pink color that goes with everything.
The cute floral top from Loft has ruffled cap sleeves which makes it perfect for summer. I styled it with shorts in this summer post: Flutter Sleeve Shell and Pink Shorts.
I love the way this top ties together my outfit with the pale pink pants and the dark cherry sweater!
Blush pink flats have been in my closet for some time and are well worth their price! (Although I bought them from Nordstrom Rack at a discounted price!) Yes, that’s a view of the Pacific on this pretty blue-sky day!
The white resin earrings are from Baublebar’s Sugarfix line at Target.
The two-tone pink bag provides a bit of nostalgia as I picked it up on sale on our cruise ship from Venice to Dubai a few years ago. Carrying it brings back lots of lovely memories!
So, how about you? I would love to hear your stories about shopping your closet!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day.
