Happy Friday, everyone! This week has felt really long despite having the day “off” for the holiday, don’t you agree? The flu bug is going around in my family and I thought it got me yesterday, but–so far, so good! Today I am styling a colorblock sweater dress with suede OTK (over-the-knee) boots. And here’s the biggest surprise: I could actually get them on!! Woo-hoo. The right boot is definitely a bit more snug but I could walk in them and they felt pretty good! Are cute shoes in my near future? I sure hope so! LOL!
The colorblock sweater dress and OTK boots outfit
Taking advantage of a 50% off sale from Ann Taylor, I purchased this cute colorblock sweater dress just before Christmas. (It is still available, however!) The heavy weight and wool of most sweater dresses make them off-limits for me; they are just too warm and I can’t wear wool against my skin. So the rayon and nylon fabric make this dress perfect for me.
I bought a petite and almost wish I’d gone for the small in the hopes of a bit more length. But, this length actually works very well with over-the-knee boots.
The mock turtleneck and the color blocking really give this dress some punch, especially with the pop of color around the face.
A simple black leather bag helped to keep this a practical look. A little snug in the rear–can you say, New Year’s Resolution?! Haha!
This dress doesn’t really need jewelry, but I thought this simple silver necklace with black thread would work. I just added some silver hoop earrings.
This is the kind of outfit you could wear to dinner or shopping, and in some cases, to work.
Have you tried OTK boots this season? I have to admit, I was skeptical. But I have so loved seeing them on other bloggers and in fashion magazines, and I wanted to try them myself. And now that I can actually get them on, I am glad I did! This pair is by Sam Edelman, and I’ve seen them on sale for less than I paid for them!
