Good morning, everyone!
Returning from my Northern Michigan trip, I found a new box of goodies from Stitch Fix. It’s always so fun–like Christmas!–to open my box and see what my stylist has chosen for me.
I was happy to see she made another try with a maxi dress–this time in petite. I am so impressed with the stylists, as they really make every effort to find wardrobe items that match your tastes, yet stretch your style a bit. She mentioned in her note to me that she has been following my blog and, with that in mind, sent me some casual pieces she thought I might like.
Today I am styling the maxi dress she selected. I thought at first the colors might be a bit boring, but after putting in on found that I love the look of the dress which can be dressed up or down.

I also wondered about the horizontal stripes making me look too wide, but the vertical stripes on the sides counter that pretty effectively, I hope!
The fabric is a midweight knit, which drapes nicely but isn’t too heavy. I paired it with my blue-gray mules and gray Gap bag so as not to take away from the pattern in the dress. Below is a back view. You can see the cute detail in the open lower back, below a crossover of the fabric. How cute is that?
A great thing about this style of dress is that it does NOT require a strapless bra. How great is that?
My stylist included a denim jacket in my fix this time. While I have many already, this one is really nice with the darker, slightly distressed fabric that has a touch of stretch.
Have you tried Stitch Fix yet? It is truly a time saver and easy–and fun!–to do. You pick the price range for your items and how often you want to receive your “Fix.” Return what you don’t want in a prepaid envelope. It truly is that simple. Check it out here or in the image on the sidebar.
Finally, I want to tell you about this super cute necklace I am styling with the outfit. I bought this in Northport while in Michigan at a great little shop called The Boutique. (I’ll be sharing a few pieces from that shop soon!) They displayed a number of cute outfits with these amazing, one-of-a-kind necklaces. The designer, Nonie, came into the shop and we had great fun selecting a few pieces. I chose this particular statement necklace because I love the pearls, and especially the medallion in the center. It’s designed with red cherries, an icon of Northern Michigan which has been long famous for its cherry crop.
