Everyone knows it’s now okay to wear white in the winter. And the classic combination of a deep black and crisp white makes a perfect outfit any time of year. So, today I am styling a black and white winter outfit that could be changed up for any season.
I’ve written about the ease of styling black and white in the past. You can read about it in When In Doubt, Wear Black and White.
Almost all of the pieces I’ve put together for today’s outfit are basics, and they are basics I’ve shared before. The reality is that even in the fashion blogging business, one has to restyle and remix pieces. After all, that’s really what we all do, right? When we buy something new, we generally think about all the other pieces in our wardrobe that it can be styled with. Well, except for those times when you just fall in love with something and buy it regardless!
So, now for the black and white winter outfit…
The Black and White Winter Outfit
These white pants are featured in the post, Pearl Studded Loafers and White Pants Outfit. They are the perfect fabric blend for me in my climate and the ankle length works great for my short frame. But I know this length doesn’t work for everybody. Like anything else, give them a try, and if they don’t work, find pants that do. The most important thing about pants is that they fit well. No matter what the cost, the pants that fit and flatter you are worth it. And you will wear them many times.
The long black cardigan was a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale pick-up, but there are lots of versions of this sweater. A longer cardigan is so perfect for winter and the longer length is slimming with an outfit.

Black suede booties are always a good choice. The color is a deep, dark hue that gives a smooth line to your look. I’ve featured these in several posts, including this one: Easy to Style Black Poncho Outfit.
A red clutch provides a little pop of color. Always nice to add a third color to contrast with the black and white as it adds interest. A bright yellow, green, even purple would be a cute addition.
What’s new in black and white?
This cute top came in a Trunk Club selection. This wrap style is flattering on everyone and I love the asymmetrical hem. While this top is in black and white leopard, it comes in four other prints, including two bold stripes patterns, too. I may have to pick up a second one!
The floral earring style is showing up for spring and they are so cute! These are by Sugarfix, so are very inexpensive. They come in lilac and blue, too. Pick up a pair or two to add some fun to your winter outfit!
The next time you are staring into your closet wondering what to wear, remember black and white. You can then add whatever pop of color you like. This combination forms the perfect basis for a winter outfit. And it’s easy to do and always in style.
Incredibly chic, thank you for adding more posts to my link up. I hope you join again this week and wasn’t our punk collab fun.
Hi, Anna,
Thanks for the nice comments and the heads-up on your Link Up Party. Yes, the punk collab was fun, though I was doubtful at first with the punk theme! Haha!
Enjoy your weekend,
xx Darlene
This is such a pretty, classic combination, Darlene. I agree on well-fitting pants, why does it seem they are so hard to find?
Hi Kimberly,
Well, it’s definitely a search project, isn’t it? I have my go-to pants shopping spots, like Talbots and the Halogen line at Nordstrom. I have short legs, and I refuse to hem things, so I have to look for petites. J Jill has some good fitting pants, too. Happy searching; let me know where you find YOUR best fitting pants!
Have a great weekend,
xx Darlene
Hey dar, I ordered the blouse in the black and white and the orange stripe! I also ordered a top in pink that has the band at the bottom – the one they didn’t have in small. I’ll let you know if they’re keepers!
Hey, Lorie,
Ooh, I love the stripe! That’s the one I had my eye on. I hope you like them! They’re a bit short waisted and I am long waisted, but it still worked for me.
Keep shopping, my friend!
xx Darlene
