Neutral shades are always in style and are a great way to mix pieces together. Coffee and cream? Beige and brown? Gray and brown? All of these colors pack a big punch in your closet as they offer a multitude of styling options. Today, I’m sharing an idea for how to style a gray and tan casual outfit. If you are planning a casual weekend, but always want to look stylish, this outfit will definitely work for you!
The gray and tan casual outfit pieces
First off, except for the shoes, this outfit is incredibly affordable. Both the sweatshirt top and the tan jeans are from Target. Both can be worn with many things already in my wardrobe. And both pieces are basic essentials for fall. Tan jeans? Check. Grey sweatshirt? Check. Comfy shoes? Check.
The sweatshirt top takes an ordinary sweatshirt and styles it up with a vee neck and a shorter length. Yet it still flaunts the classic sweatshirt. A style almost anybody loves.

The jeans are a lovely camel tan shade which is perfect for fall. Again, I have lots of options for restyling these pants. For me, the fact that they are available in short is fabulous, too, as I did not have to hem them! Woohoo! And they are also available in plus sizes, curvy, and curvy plus. Good job, Target, for offering sizes to fit all body types!
The shoes and scarf with the gray and tan casual outfit
Once again, the highest priced item in this look is the shoes! But for me, quality shoes are essential for both comfort and fit. And when they are as cute as these, I’m sold! This is another pair by one of my favorite brands, Ecco, so comfort is a known feature. I love this neutral shade which goes with everything. They also come in a dark charcoal. SO cute.

In my last post, I talked about the easy style generated by the addition of a pretty scarf. (Check it out here if you missed it.) If you are like me, you have a few of these (or a hundred!) in your closet or dresser, am I right? I have a pretty big collection which I’ve added to regularly over the years. Somehow, they always come in handy and I can find at least one to accentuate any outfit. This one was a gift a number of years ago and I have always loved the soft neutral colors. And the subtle animal print makes it fun and current.
Coming up…
In the near future, I’ll be sharing my learning from this blogging journey. I’m headed to a conference in Orlando, called the EBA Activate Conference (Elite Blog Academy), next week. There is SO much to learn about this business and it changes every.single.day. It can be very challenging, but rewarding, too, as I expand my tech and knowledge of marketing. My son is very sweet, calling me the epitome of a lifelong learner. Well, as an educator, that’s something I always wanted for the students, so I am now modeling it! Many of you have asked me about this strange thing called blogging, so I’ll share some of the basics.
Until then, have a wonderful day…
Have fun at your blogging conference. I hope to attend one next year! SEO is still not my strong point! Love the casual look and your snakeskin scarf was the perfect touch!

Thanks, Jess. I know what you mean–SEO, keywords, yikes! The list goes on. I have all kinds of new learning in my head, but the application can be a challenge. I’ll be taking notes and writing about my learning so I hope it’s helpful to you and others.
Best,
Darlene
Lovely neutral outfit Darlene! Good luck at the conference – looking forward to hearing all about it xx
Thanks, Maria. I will be sharing, and I have SO much to learn. This crazy blogging thing touches so many areas–not at all what I expected. But it keeps the dendrites building! Haha! And there are many lovely women like you that I am becoming acquainted with, albeit online.
