When we think of fall, those brilliant earth tones come to mind. At this time of year, we tend to pull out our neutrals and shades of brown and rust along with earthy yellows, burgundies, and greens. This muted paisley dress is a softer version of those colors we all know and love in a flowy, feminine style.
The Paisley Dress
In addition to the beautiful paisley pattern, the details truly make this dress special: long, billowy sleeves, shiny button front, ee-neck, and especially the tie front. This detail helps to give shape to your waistline, creating a more flattering silhouette.
Initially, I wasn’t sure about the style and fit of this dress. At 5′ 3″, I tend to look better in more fitted styles. But like everyone else, I love a feminine flowing dress style, too!
There are many comments about this dress fitting too loosely. While I like that in this style, a size smaller might actually look a little more tailored. For reference, I bought this dress in my usual size 6. I knew it would fit longer on my legs than shown on the super tall model, but that usually works out OK. For me, midi styles often become maxi! Lol!
Unsure if this style might work for you? Take a look at Nordstrom’s Best Dress for Your Body Type. It’s not an exact science, but it may be helpful. Sometimes we just want to step out of the “best look for our body type” and go for something different, however!
I’m wearing the dress here with both my neutral pumps and “greige” slouchy mid-calf boots. If the dress were shorter on me, it would look better with knee-high or over-the-knee boots to create a smooth line. Almost any nude or neutral shade shoe or boot would go with this print!
I’m having a moment with shoulder/crossbody bags. Fortunately, I’ve put together a good collection to choose from! The cream bag is an Amazon steal! It comes in lots of colors so it’s a great bag to have at the ready for any outfit.
I love the muted oranges and tans in this dress. Having recently been reintroduced to paisley, I grab anything paisley these days that appeals to me. A paisley print doesn’t have to be bold and bright to be cool!
While I don’t try to make my lipstick “match” my outfit, a soft apricot lipstick in a slightly muted shade looks better than a loud red or pink with these colors. Once again, I’m wearing Color The World’s newest addition, Apricotty lipstick, with Rose Gold lipstick over it for a little more shine. We all know and love a basic black leather jacket. I’ve had this leather biker jacket for several years and love it. It gets LOTS of wear during the cooler months. But sometimes, I love a softer leather look, as in a warmer cognac color. The jacket I’m wearing here is many, many years old, and a perennial favorite.

We don’t have to sacrifice lighter fabrics and feminine style in the fall. A pretty paisley print dress like this one looks amazing and gives our boots and leather jackets a whole new look!
