We all love the simplicity and ease of styling a dress. Just add accessories and you’re ready to go! This puff sleeve sweater dress is a perfect example. It has the added benefit of providing enough warmth, so you don’t have to wear a coat in the early fall.
Speaking of early fall, this is a strange one, isn’t it? (Be sure to check out my last paragraph on the topic of strange.) While we may be pulling out our usual fall knickknacks and decorating for Autumn, albeit much more simply, we aren’t really readying for Trick-or-Treaters and that big Thanksgiving dinner with extended family. Instead, we’re planning for scaled-down holiday celebrations with fewer people and hopefully, less fuss.
So an easy-to-style sweater dress might be just the ticket for such a celebration.
The Puff Sleeve Sweater Dress
In the market for a simple dress for fall? This sweater dress checks all the boxes. Easy to wear? Check. Comfortable? Check. Warm enough for a cool day or evening? Check. Trendy and stylish? Check. And finally: affordable? Double check.
This puff-sleeve sweater dress makes a cozy addition to your colder-weather wardrobe, with soft fabric and a hint of spandex. It’s simple crewneck style and puffed sleeves give you an effortlessly chic look, something we all want.
The allover rib-knit design adds subtle texture that looks a bit like animal print.
As a neutral outfit, I kept everything in a soft beige color tone. (Though the dress does come in navy blue. Very cute, too!)
The dress is described as mini, but not so on me. For my taller friends, it would look beautiful with cognac or leopard print leggings, or even with tights and knee-high boots.
Mid-calf boots from last year are a favorite and flatter my shorter height. However, tan or beige knee-high boots are a big trend right now and there are lots of cute ones on the market. Here are just a few examples of the mid-calf style:
Which style do you prefer? Or do you like both? For a more casual look, low-heeled booties or even sneakers would work.
An obi belt is a cute addition to a straight or sheath style dress. It’s a great way to add definition at the waist as well as a little extra style. This is a very inexpensive faux-leather belt from Amazon. It comes in lots of colors. This is the type of accessory that I like to have on hand for those few times when I want to add a little something, but don’t want to spend a lot.
The dress also looks great without a belt. With or without? Whatever is most flattering and comfortable for you, of course!
A Scary Fall Poem
In keeping with my Autumn theme, I’m sharing a link to this “Spooky Fall Poem from the New York Times.” You’ll quickly deduce that the scary part comes from the year that it describes. You guessed it–2020. Read and enjoy, my friends.
