Happy Labor Day! Can you believe it’s September already? Kids back in school, days beginning to shorten, cool nights? Yikes. The summer just flew by! So it’s time to transition to semi-fall looks regardless of the weather, and this denim midi shirtdress is the perfect solution!
There are so many options for great looking style, and a mix of quality basics and affordable fashion is easy to do. Like in this outfit. The most expensive piece is the shoes! (Well, that is often the case, is it not?) This inexpensive denim shirtdress is a perfect example.
Denim midi shirtdress with olive
This adorable denim midi shirtdress is by WhoWhatWear. Their line of clothing at Target is inexpensive yet totally on trend. And it’s surprisingly well made. The details, once again, make this dress stand out, like the contrasting denim on the rolled-up sleeves, the chest pocket, and the medium wash color. When I saw it online, I knew it was for me!
Of course, since it doesn’t come in petite length (though it does come in plus size–love that!), I did have to have the dress hemmed. Including hemming, the dress came in at under $50. Incredible for something I know I can wear a lot.
The bucket bag is a big trend this fall. And there are so many versions of the bucket bag. Unfortunately, this cute olive one from Target is no longer available (I think I bought the very last one!), but I’ve found several similar versions: here, here and here. This trend adds a darling element to any outfit.
Being denim, you can contrast the dress with almost any color in your shoes and bag and make a statement. Since olive and navy look amazing together, I am styling the Walking Cradle booties that I really love. I wrote about them in this post. Now, how about a bit of cognac?

Cognac is a popular color in the fall. And it looks fabulous with denim! Here, you see the denim midi shirtdress styled with a leather belt in cognac and my favorite summer sandals. (You can see them here and they are on sale.)
Just by adding sandals to the outfit creates a more casual look, doesn’t it? Now it’s ready for a picnic, a lunch date, or a casual party.
There are so many gorgeous bags in cognac for fall. This one is from Sole Society and they have many in this color. Sole Society makes great bags in “vegan” leather (can you say vinyl? Lol!) that are at a great price point. Here is a similar bag that also comes in leopard!
It has finally cooled off quite a bit and the sky is just overcast enough in the morning to take photos, so we headed over to a pretty park we can see out our windows. There is something so relaxing about a beautiful park with trees and grass, isn’t there? And there was even a bit of a breeze! (Hence, the windblown hair look!) Is your weather taming a bit for fall?
I hope you a lovely and relaxing Labor Day and do absolutely nothing! Except reading and commenting on this post, of course. JK!
Thanks for stopping by!
