Tiered and puff-sleeved dresses are still going strong this season. This bold tropical tiered midi dress is a great example and a fun choice for summer.
The tiered dress dates back to the Victorian era where clothing like this signaled wealth. While that may still be true today, we are so fortunate that we can play with fashion trends without spending a great deal. Even those of us on a budget can still dress fashionably!
The Tropical Tiered Midi Dress Outfit
I was indecisive about purchasing this dress as I already have a few long dresses in my closet. Finally, however, the bold print sold me. And the sale price! It’s hard for me to resist a pink and red color combo! It will also be perfect for warm weather vacations, like my upcoming trip to Hawaii. The style and print sort of shout, Aloha, don’t they? Lol!
The tiered style makes the dress totally current while the flowy style gives it a casual, comfy vibe. My kind of look!
The spaghetti straps and scoop front aren’t too low, but it does require a strapless bra. I’ve tried a few, but this strapless bra remains my favorite. A new brand at Nordstrom, called Harper Wilde, includes another version of an underwire strapless bra at a very affordable price. I bought one of their underwire bras and I do like it, so I might give this one a try.
While it’s intended to fit loose and swingy, there were several comments about it running too large. So I sized down from my usual size small to an extra-small and it works fine. I think a small would probably have worked, too. Sizing runs from extra-small to extra-large.
The fabric is woven rayon and is machine washable–all good things in my book!
I’ve written several posts about our favorite getaway spot–the Palm Springs area. It’s only about 2 1/2 hours from our house so it makes it easy to head out there for a three-day weekend. Especially at this time of year, when our coastal city suffers from what we call, “May Gray” followed by June gloom. In reality, it mostly clears by the afternoon and the temperature is typically in the 70s, but the desert is perfect from April through September.
The desert is so beautiful with the mountains ringing the valley and the clear skies. The environment there gives one a very relaxing vibe, so it’s a great getaway spot!
The photos of this dress were all taken here around the property of the Hyatt Regency in Indian Wells. It’s a gorgeous property.
Finally, I am once again, wearing these super comfortable stud sandals that are trending all over. I’m thinking about picking up a pair of the clear ones with rhinestones. Gotta love the bling, right?
The adorable beaded earrings were a great find. With the vibrant pink and red in the cherries, and the green leaves, they are the perfect accompaniment for this tropical tiered dress, don’t you think?
