I know I talk a lot about adding color to your winter outfits. It just makes sense and makes the short dark days feel better. And more springlike. If you’ve been following me for a while, you also know that I love the color yellow! So, today I’m styling a cute floral balloon sleeve top in a yellow floral.
Adding a pop of color to basic black pieces changes up any look instantly. Just by adding a fun floral in a bright color makes these pieces come alive.
On another note, whoever said you can’t wear yellow jeans in the winter? Not me. The denim fabrics used for jeans are naturally rather heavy and a pair of yellow jeans are not necessarily any lighter weight than your basic indigo or black.
Of course, the yellow jeans gave me an excuse to style these adorable yellow slingbacks. After red, yellow shoes are my next favorite. How about you? What is your favorite shoe color?
The Floral Balloon Sleeve Top Outfit
This balloon sleeve top is made of lighter weight cotton, so it might be a bit thin for those of you in colder climates. Of course, you could always wear it over a turtleneck or warm tee, like a 32 Degrees Heat Tee. I even wear them myself on cold (relatively speaking) Southern California winter days!
The top has poofy balloon sleeves and a swing shape, so it’s made to wear over slim bottoms like your favorite skinny jeans. Here I’m styling it with my black skinny jeans. These are super comfortable!
For a winter look, I’ve added my black Vionic wedge booties that are both comfy and warm.
The final piece for a winter outfit has to be a leather moto jacket, right? I love the contrast with the feminine floral in the top with the edginess of the moto jacket.
If you really prefer more neutral shades, the top also comes in a black and white floral. Still very cute.
Yellow jeans just instantly say spring, don’t they? There are just those days when you have to pull out a pair of colored jeans, aren’t there?
Here is a link to a pair of ankle jeans in sandwashed yellow. (Ignore the super skinny model and the shortness of the ankle jeans–yikes, she must be six feet tall! Lol!)
These are the now famous (or is it infamous? lol!) yellow slingbacks that I love. I bought them in early fall after our adorable little Lulu chewed up my yellow heeled-loafers and I knew they would be hard to find over the winter. I’ve linked similar yellow slingbacks here. It has a bit lower heel and is made by Naturalizer–known for comfort. Still super cute.
For a not-so-chilly winter day, I would style this look with an off-white denim jacket or a utility-style jacket.
I hope you spotted my adorable heart drop earrings! They would be cute for Valentine’s Day, too. They do come in red but I figured the black was a bit more subtle and still cute. If you’re not into red outfits and red hearts for Valentine’s Day, you could wear these earrings with a little black dress and be ready to celebrate the day of love!
So, are you ready to perk up your basic black outfit with a little yellow? Or even go as far as to wear those colored jeans in your closet? Add some sunshine to your winter style and give it a try!
