Hello, everyone! Have you been admiring the wide array of beautiful pleated skirts this season but not sure if you could pull it off? Welcome to the club! Being on the short side, pleated skirts tend to make me look too wide at my widest point–the hips. The trick is how you style it. For the most part, it’s almost always best to wear a top that can be tucked in, in order to define your waistline. But I have seen tall or very thin ladies style a pleated skirt with a cropped sweater or one that can be tucked in a bit in the front. The point is, if you love the look, try it with lots of different tops to see what works best for your figure.
The Pleated Skirt Outfit
In this photo, you see the two basic pieces–the pleated skirt and top. You can see that without tucking my tank top in I would look rather square, so, for me, I definitely need a top that can be tucked in like this floral tank. (Not to mention my rather large and swollen right foot! THAT I don’t need but I am stuck with for now. Ugh!)
Pleated midi skirt in mystic purple
I saw this pleated skirt on sale from JC Penney and loved the color and the midi length. It cost less than $20 and comes in this beautiful purplish-blue color as well as a rich burgundy– and in petite sizes!! To finish the look, I styled my rose three-quarter sleeve sweater over the top and added my hot pink clutch.
Although these gray slides are one of the few pair of shoes I can actually get my foot in, I think they work pretty well with this outfit, don’t you?
The final touch, of course, is jewelry. I am styling my multi-strand necklace, gold hoop earrings, and a set of blue-gray bracelets from Nordstrom. Ready to party!!
