Hello, everyone. Today will be the first of three posts taking a basic striped pencil skirt and styling it for three different occasions in three different ways. This is a classic move to ensure we get lots of use out of the pieces in our wardrobes.
The outfit as workwear
The striped pencil skirt is perfect for work and with its many colors you can wear it with almost anything. It is by Max Studio and you can see a similar version here. Even for workwear, I like to add a pop of color. Have you ever been to a meeting or work situation where everyone is wearing black? I was at a Board Meeting recently and was glad that I had on a pink sweater in the midst of all that black. Adding just one spark of color shows confidence and helps you to stand out, so it’s a good move. I have always made it a point to wear a pop of color to an interview; it’s hard enough for the interviewers to remember all of the interviews, so a little color helps make you memorable as well.
With mustard a trending color, I decided to add my pop of color in this shade. This is an older blazer from my wardrobe, but like any blazer, it’s a workhorse you can wear for many years. You can see a similar one here and here.
These tights are absolutely my favorites! They are Commando tights and have a higher waist that doesn’t roll down. You all know what I mean! Really helps with the muffin top! You have seen these suede block heels before. They are SO versatile.
The top I’m wearing under the blazer is actually a draped halter top, so you can wear it for work, a casual affair, or even for a dressy look. For more ideas for stylish work looks, take a look at this earlier post on Affordable Fashion.
Nothing beats a good leather bag and I love this one with all the compartments. I sure end up with a lot of important “stuff” I feel the need to carry around! Check out the many compartments–a great bag for work.
Thanks for stopping by today. Tomorrow I will style another look with this basic pencil skirt, so check back in and tell me what you think!
