It looks like Spring is finally here! And here were are already in April, when April showers bring May flowers. Ever wonder where this saying came from? My guess was a Hallmark card! Lol! It turns out it dates back as far as 1557 where a man by the name of Thomas Tusser compiled a collection of writings he called “A Hundred Good Points of Husbandry.” In the April husbandry section, he wrote:
Sweet April showers
Do spring May flowers
How about that? We learn something new every day, right? In any case, we are expecting a bit of rain this weekend in Southern California, and just in case, I am ready with my fun yellow raincoat.
The yellow raincoat outfit
This fun yellow raincoat arrived in my last Stitch Fix and I thought it was so cute. I always wanted one of these yellow raincoats! I was so jealous of kids that had those cool yellow raincoats with the toggle buttons in the front! If I was still working as an educator, it would really come in handy walking the school sites on a rainy day.
Can you tell I absolutely LOVE yellow?! A group of bloggers I follow styled all kinds of yellow pieces for a link up and they had lots of cute ideas. A few of them struggled with styling yellow. I mentioned before that yellow can work for everyone, but you do need to find the shade and hue that look best on your skin tone and that can even be mustard. To me, yellow just shouts happy!!
Cotton Sweater (comes in yellow and other colors!) | Floral blouse (similar)
You may think I got a little carried away with yellow on yellow, but I think it works! Haha! I styled this cute raincoat with a yellow cotton sweater from Lands End. If you’ve been following my posts, you know I am very fond of their cotton sweaters, blouses, etc. The yellow and blue floral shirt is also from Lands End from last year. You can see the shirt and sweater from an earlier post here.
Leather Sneakers (come in lots of colors!)
These leather sneakers might not work in a heavy downpour, but to be honest, we haven’t had much of that kind of rain this year. Even though we need it. It’s hard to believe that some parts of the country are struggling with flooding while we are sitting here high and dry. Weather is crazy.
This yellow raincoat would look really cute with a gingham top, don’t you think? I think my Stitch Fix stylist intended the raincoat to be worn with the indigo gingham shirt she sent me. I love it! If you missed it, you can check it out here. If you haven’t tried Stitch Fix, give it a try, just for fun! You can get a fun yellow raincoat like this for your very own!
I hope your weekend is sunny and bright. And for those of you still getting those darn Spring snowstorms (I remember them well, growing up in Michigan!), hang in there: Spring IS coming!
