For our final day in the desert, I decided to show you some of the beautiful flowers and plants. It really is amazing to see such abundance in an otherwise dry terrain. They say that all you need to do is add water, and anything will grow in the desert soil. It’s an amazing thing to see. And speaking of amazing, I have more affordable fashion ideas to share with you today: a cute summer outfit made up of tan shorts and a palm frond shirt.
The palm frond shirt and tan shorts outfit
Hawaiian print shirts are suddenly trending for summer. Personally, I have always loved these fun prints. This cute palm frond shirt takes a classic Hawaiian print–the palm frond–and switches it up with a different color palette. I love the way the bright pink stands out on the dark olive background. Colors right up my alley!
This is another fabulous find from Target–the A New Day line–again. The fabric is soft and easy care and the colors are neutral enough to go with lots of things in your closet. I think it would look amazing with pink crop pants!
The shorts are also from the same line. I absolutely love them and the price is right! They are a chino fabric that is soft and doesn’t easily wrinkle. These are the 5-inch length which I really like, me being on the short side. While I will wear a few of the longer length shorts, the proportion has to be just right or it looks like I don’t have any legs! lol! It’s all about proportion, especially in shorts. I will get lots of wear out of these shorts this summer! If you are looking for a good basic short, check these out!
The shoes and accessories
Once again, I am styling a pair of quality leather sandals. While I will sometimes where higher platforms with shorts, I honestly think a flat sandal is best for a casual look. Or even a pair of sneakers.
Ah, nothing like a water feature on a hot day to make you think you are cooler! The Renaissance Hotel has beautiful grounds as you can see, so there were lots of places to take photos. The only problem was the sweating! haha! In any case, a woven bag is once again the bag of choice for any summer outfit. This one is still trending and I find I can wear it with just about anything.
I talked about the importance of a hat with sun protection in my last post. (You can view it here.) Take the time and spend the money on one that will last and will also protect your face and hair. It is worth every penny.
And now back to reality and the cool temps along the Coast. I know I will love and appreciate it when it gets hot here in SoCal.
Have a wonderful weekend. I hope it’s warm and sunny where you are–add a little tropical style for a different look!
