Move over leopard. There are new animal prints taking center stage: snakeskin and zebra. And zebra print fashion is having a big moment right now for fall.
While we usually think of zebra as black and white, it’s fun to see the many color versions of this animal print. The pieces I’m showing today are in the taupe family.
While the two pieces I’m showcasing today are virtually the same pattern, the difference in fabric gives them two different color combos. I thought I might be able to wear them as a two-piece dress, but they just look off, given the chiffon-type fabric of the top and the woven fabric in the skirt. However, they are both super cute examples of zebra print fashion in an alternative color family!
Zebra Print Fashion
Each of the two looks I’m styling today are for the seasons of summer and fal
The Zebra Top
The first outfit is a classic summer outfit: a super cute top with white jeans!
This zebra-print shell is perfect for summer! It’s fully lined so it flows beautifully. Besides the fun print and fabric is the detail in the back. This tie-back detail is what makes the top stand out! After some years where low-neck tops were all the fashion rage, it’s nice to see such cute tops with high round necklines.
Naturally, you could style this top under a long cardigan sweater with jeans once fall arrives. For a professional look, just wear slacks or a skirt and a blazer. You could style this taupe color without almost any blazer in your wardrobe!
Zebra-Print Skirt
An a-line skirt is the most flattering shape for a skirt, don’t you agree? Even in this slightly shorter length, the skirt fits nicely without being too clingy.
While this skirt would look adorable with a white or beige tee and sandals for a warm summer day, it can also be styled for the cooler weather of fall.
The fabric is a cotton woven fabric that holds its shape nicely. Here I’m styling it with my favorite sweater in a rust shade. It’s tucked in here but would look just as nice untucked.
I purchased the sweater in a medium for a looser fit. You could also wear a cute top in a contrasting color or pattern. Leopard maybe? Fall fashion is showing a mix of animal prints, but I’m not sure I’m ready for that. How about you?
The Accessories
White chunky-heel mules give some height without being overly fussy. Mine are older, but they continue to trend. I’ve linked to a similar pair below. They are super versatile!
Perfect for fall, slouch booties in a rusty tone look great with the sweater and provide some contrast to the skirt. You could also wear tights when the weather cools down. Of course, knee-high boots would also look amazing.
My ultra-comfy booties are from Vionic, known for their comfort. They have a nice arch support and enough give to make to make walking a long time easy.
I chose a bronze shoulder bag as a nice neutral with the colors in the outfit with the top and jeans. I liked the woven round bag with the fall colors. These bags are not just for summer!
For jewelry, I went with rose gold with pieces from the Nordstrom brand from last year.

So, what do you think of zebra-print fashion? Is it for you? I think we will all remain true to leopard but it’s nice to change up our animal prints once in a while!
What a fantastic print! Both pieces are really great. It is a shame that they don’t work as coordinating pieces. But still they are really great as separates!

I know, right? I really wanted them to work together as a two-piece dress, but I like them separately, too!
Thanks, Shelbee,

I’m a big zebra print fan and this different color version is cute and versatile! Thanks for sharing at #WowOnWednesday!
Thanks, Gail. I’m just starting to play around with zebra and it’s super fun and easy to style, isn’t it?

I love this taupe version of zebra print! It is much more neutral and more wearable I think. Both items are really cute on you!
Thanks, Laura. I agree that the taupe is easier to style for sure!
Have a great weekend–coming soon!
