Hello, everyone,
Those of you who have been longer time subscribers may recall my whole house flooring project. Well, that mess ended in February, but as they were getting ready to install my wood-look vinyl flooring in the master bath, they discovered a leak in the shower! We have been dealing with insurance issues, contractors and picking out materials for some time. All this time, our bath has been totally out of commission with plywood flooring and the whole ugly mess. Finally, about four weeks ago, the demo and redo started. At this time, we are still waiting for the new tub (which was not covered by insurance, along with many other things!), so the plumber can install the fixtures and the tub. Needless to say, we were forced to move into our other bathroom during this time, which has been great fun. (NOT!)
Here are some of the early photos of the Big Mess 2:
There is the culprit–the shower pan! Since we couldn’t match the old tile, we had to do a total redo.
It has been a huge mess, and we have been cleaning up dust and dirt ever since the demolition! Not pretty, is it?
While we are still not finished, things have been moving along, and with any luck we will have a fully functioning bathroom in a week or so. Of course, we then have to patch and paint, add handles to the vanity, and find new pictures and decorations to give it a finished look. You can see that the old style was more Italianate, with travertine and maple, almond tub and sinks and tile floor. We will need to change the paint color to a blue-gray and add more modern touches, along with new white sinks and tub.
Below is the current status. Minus the trim, the tub, the fixtures, and the final decorating, of course.
And the shower:
So, it is starting to look like a real bathroom again! We will be thrilled once everything is finished.
I hope you enjoyed seeing our project in process! Once the entire bathroom is complete, I will share some photos as well as where we found some of the decorating and detail pieces, just in case this happens to you or you are remodeling.
Thanks for stopping by today. Check back in tomorrow for another entertaining story! LOL.
