Have you noticed all the solid-color pantsuits this spring? There are so many in shades of greens, reds, vivid blues, even yellow tones! I love them all, but never doubt the power of the pink pantsuit.
Having worn pantsuits for much of my career as an administrator in education, you can classify me as a lover of the pantsuit. But all of these new versions in fresh colors are a real treat for the eyes. Not to mention to give the basic old pantsuit a new look.
When I think about the history of pantsuits, I’m reminded of my high school experience. Until I was a senior in high school, girls were required to wear skirts or dresses. Can you imagine that today??!! What gender discrimination, right? My last year in high school, we were finally allowed to wear pants but they had to be part of a pantsuit or an outfit. How crazy is that? We really have come a long way baby!! Lol!
This newest iteration of the pantsuit in fun and vibrant colors is a welcome update in the history pantsuits.
Now, on to the power of the pink pantsuit…
The Power of the Pink Pantsuit
Before I share a couple of ideas for styling the pink suit, here is a little background information. All of these pieces, and I do mean all, are from Target. What does that mean? That means that for under $100, you, too, could have all of these items in your wardrobe. The best thing of all is that all of these pieces can be styled so many ways with things you already have in your closet. And of course, the pants and jacket can also be styled more ways than I alone can think of.
You may remember a suit I styled recently in a linen fabric with taupe stripes. It’s another example of an inexpensive yet super stylish suit from Target. You can see it in the post, How to Style a Shorts Suit or Co-Ords Outfit.
The pink jacket is linen in soft, smokey pink. The pants are made with an amazingly smooth fabric. I have similar pants in blue from Talbots that I love, and these are one-third the price. Can’t beat that!
Following are three easy ways to style a pink pantsuit for a variety of occasions.
A Pink Pantsuit for Work
For a basic but stylish look, style your pink pieces with a white top. In this case, I’ve added a stretchy tee by Prologue from Target. These tops, at under $13, can be worn so many ways under jackets, sweaters, and denim jackets, but also serve as the perfect summer tank with your favorite shorts.
Pink heels and a leather satchel make this the perfect outfit for a professional summer look. Drop earrings in pink and silver make a subtle statement.
The Power of the Pink Pantsuit for Date Night
For date night, change things up with a pink and black combo. Pink and black look amazing together, and while it’s not a current trend, just know that it’s a color combo that comes back every now and then. And it always looks chic.
Espadrille sandals and a black crochet bag add a touch of summer to this date night look.
The Pink Pantsuit for Casual Wear
You can also go totally casual with a pink pantsuit. Just adding a denim or chambray shirt changes the look. Add white sneakers and a tote bag to give the suit a casual, everyday vibe.
