Just what is a shacket, you ask? Well, it’s really just a shirt and jacket all rolled into one. There are lots of styles out there, but the most popular is the plaid versions in a thicker fabric. These shackets are fairly warm so they are perfect for a fall day.
Here in Southern California that would only be part of a day. There is a meme on Facebook going around that shows our weather as having all four seasons in one day. And it’s true! Lol!
Recently, I shared this super-versatile black and white houndstooth shacket. It’s super versatile and can be dressed up or down, which is always a bonus.
You style this jacket with a belt for a professional look that is super cute! Check out the post for details.
Of course, I just had to get one (or two) in plaid as this is an easy and cozy casual look.
So here we go!
The Shacket Trend
A Flannel Shirt Jacket
While this top is not marketed as a shacket, I’ve styled it as one. How many of you at some time in life wore a flannel shirt over a top? Well, that’s a shacket!
This shirt is a basic from Old Navy. It’s super soft and lightweight, making it perfect for one of those cool fall days where you only need a light layer. That time for me is early morning or early evening!
I love the browns and red shades in this flannel shirt, and it also comes in a pretty blue and gray. And, of course, if you already have a flannel shirt, pull it out and style it over any top in your wardrobe. When in doubt, a white tee always works!
These grey jeans are from Wit & Wisdom from at least a year ago. Luckily, they are still available this year! Plus size grey jeans, too! They are described as a skinny style, but I find them to be not too tight through the legs and super comfortable.
I love an elbow-sleeve turtleneck and have this one in three colors!
The Plaid Shacket
You can find lots of these plaid shackets on Amazon and practically anywhere! This one did take almost three weeks to arrive, so order ASAP if you want one. This exact jacket is sold out but there are SO many similar ones to choose from. These oversized jackets have lots of plaid patterns and colors to choose from.
Noting the soft tans and grays in the jacket, I decided to play off of them with light wash jeans. These are my older Cindy jeans from Paige and I’ve linked to a page with several styles. Of the designer jeans, I have to say that Paige makes the most flattering. They have just the right amount of stretch. Their men’s jeans are fabulous and both my husband and son love them!
If you haven’t yet picked one up, do shop around for a comfy and cozy shacket. Or restyle a favorite plaid shirt in your closet for the trendy shacket look!
