Today’s post is all about the pants. Is there anything better than pants that not only look good but feel good too? Like these tie waist wide leg pants.
I know I’ve talked before about this wide leg style. It is such a refreshing change from all the skinny jeans. Don’t get me wrong–I still like and wear my favorite skinnies. But it’s so nice to be able to change things up and wear something with a whole different feel.
The wide leg pants come in so many styles, colors, and lengths. I picked up my first pair last summer. They were in a Trunk Club selection. I remember thinking, these will not work for me. With my short frame and short legs, I’ll look like a little fireplug. I wasn’t even going to try them on. But I liked the chambray color and fabric, so thought, why not? Just for grins.
What a surprise they were! You can read about them in the post, Wide Leg Pants Transition from Summer to Fall. I really liked the way they fit and even the way they looked.
Wide leg pants can be tricky so you do have to find the style that works for your body. For me, the cropped versions seem to work best. But I also styled a pair of crepe wide leg pants that were a bit shorter and a little dressier; read about those in the post, Wide Leg Pants Outfit for Work. I’ve worn those for professional events and felt both stylish and appropriate.
Now, for today’s wide-leg style…
Tie Waist Wide Leg Pants Outfit
These pants are from Loft. The beauty of Loft is that they almost always have a sale (these are 40% off). They also make pants in petite sizes that actually fit.
The fabric is the first thing I noticed. It’s a fluid rayon fabric that flows nicely on the body. Next was the cute tie at the waist. So cute and very trendy.
These pants actually pull on without any buttons or zippers as they have a gathered waist in the back. While you might think this would make them odd looking, it actually provides that bit of extra room that gives the pants that flowy ability.
As tan and black is such a classic combination, I kept the accessories classic as well. A black V-neck tee, black espadrilles, and a black bag completed the look.
The Accessories
The platform sandals are by Steve Madden and have just enough height to make them stylish. They come in black, tan, and gold. Best of all, they are less than $45!! Can’t beat that! I’ve been looking for black espadrille-type sandals but didn’t want to spend too much, and these are perfect!
OK, the handbags this spring as just too cute to resist! This cute black crochet bag has a wooden O-ring handle that is so trendy right now! On the inside is a solid black bag that can be cinched shut so you can easily carry your things without worrying about losing them. SO cute!
Do you have a favorite brand of tees? Lately, I’ve been loving knitted pieces from Lou and Grey and this “softserve” V-neck tee is so soft and comfy. It comes in five colors including black and white.
What do you think of the wide-leg pants? Have you found a style that works for you? Try a pair for comfort and a classic ’40s vibe.
I love that handbag too! I cant get enough of the cute bags, I have a few straw bags and rattan for summer. I love this classic combo and your pants look wonderful on you> love the tie waist.

Thanks, Jess! I’ve been looking for a black bag for summer and love this one! Aren’t the wide leg pants a nice change?

I just adore this outfit, I’ve been really into paper bag and tied waist pants/shorts, too! It’s just something fresh and new in the style world. Those sandals look super comfy and stylish, too and I love the low heel.
