Who can resist a red, white and blue outfit? This is such a clean nautical style that seemingly appeals to everyone, and definitely looks great in fashion. And I have a super look to share with you in this floral tiered midi skirt.
If your crazy weather is anything like ours, temperatures are vacillating almost daily between cool, cold, overcast, rainy, and then beautiful and sunny. Sound familiar? In any case, it’s the beginning of that time of year when we start putting together outfits that bridge the gap between winter and spring. Styling such a transitional outfit is actually quite easy as you can pull from pieces already in your closet to add layers that play off the weather.
For this look, I’m styling a basic tee, a floral skirt, and that wardrobe workhorse–the denim jacket. Read on to find out more…
Floral Tiered Midi Skirt Outfit
When I came across this adorable skirt, I could see it styled so many ways in my head. And it could go with pieces I already have. Those features score points with me when I’m looking to add something to my wardrobe.
To give it a transitional look, I’ve styled it here with mid-calf boots and a denim jacket, but you could just as easily go without the jacket and add sandals and a cute hat for a very cute summer look. In fact, I’m thinking ahead to my cruise to Spain this summer.
This is a piece I can wear during the day with a tee and sneakers for sightseeing. Then, at night on the ship, I can add a dressier top, maybe a red or white halter top, with heels for a slightly more sophisticated look. Either way, it will work just fine and reflect that breezy vacay feel. Can’t wait!
Here I am wearing a basic white tee, but for a colder day–or colder climate–a white turtleneck would look equally cute. Or even a chunky white sweater. You pick!
Fortunately, the skirt isn’t too long (for those of us with shorter legs) and tall sizes. Otherwise, my midi would look like a maxi on my frame! And the proportion would be too full with all the weight at the bottom of the skirt. The skirt also comes in Plus sizes and looks good on most body styles.
My current favorite white tee is the basic short sleeve tee from Target. It’s super soft and comfy and isn’t too fitted, yet still looks good under a jacket or sweater.
The collarless denim jacket is a new addition to my closet. I wanted a slightly longer length and loved the different look!
I featured a sneak peek at this outfit in a recent post, where I listed what I consider the 7 fashion essentials we all need. You know a white tee had to be on that list! As well as the denim jacket, right?
Layering is always a good strategy for the varying temps of the season, isn’t it? So pick up a floral tiered skirt like this one, and layer on the tops. Add some boots or booties and you are crazy-weather ready!
