It’s easy to transition your pieces from season to season. Pieces that you styled for winter–with layers and scarves, boots and tights–can create whole new looks for spring just by changing up and rearranging the pieces. With the weather often changing from day-to-day, warm and sunny one day, cool and rainy the next (April showers bring May flowers, right?), our wardrobes need to be flexible and vary from keeping warm to keeping cool. Here, I’ve shopped my closet to share some transitional outfits for spring that anybody can assemble.
All of them make use of animal prints in one piece or another. And I know you’ve got some in YOUR closet!
Transitional Outfits for Spring From My Closet
The Faux Leather Skirt
Did any of you pick up a faux leather or suede skirt last fall or this winter? Well, those skirts can still work right now. You can wear a faux leather piece in almost any season except in the warmest summer months.
Remember this outfit? I first styled this look last fall with a floral top. In fact, this outfit would work right now! For a change, and for cooler days, I’ve restyled it below.
A lightweight cowl neck sweater adds a nice contrast to the flat texture in the skirt. Remember that you can always tuck in a tunic like this to get extra use out of it. Style your favorite leopard heels with this look for a bit of contrast. perfect for work or date night!
The Snakeskin Skirt
I first styled this snakeskin maxi skirt with black for a simple summer look. This is another way to wear it for spring!
You could even add a sweater or your black leather jacket on a cooler spring day. Oh, yeah.
To add a little sunshine, try it with a yellow top or sweater! There are lots of examples of this color/pattern combo and I love the pop of color against the neutral tones in the snakeskin pattern.
You can still make use of your black booties from fall and winter this spring! It’s a great way to add a little edginess to your look.
The Leopard Skirt
Do you have a leopard skirt? My guess is that you have at least one. This print has become a mainstay of everyone’s wardrobe. Its beauty is in the ability to style it with almost any color. Here is an example from an earlier post:
After seeing leopard print styled with olive green on Pinterest, I had to give it a try. The two neutrals play well together, don’t you think? This is one of my favorite combinations.
For an even more casual look, style a leopard skirt with a basic black tee. Here, I’m wearing a long-sleeve tee perfect for this time of year, as you can roll up the sleeves if you need to. It’s an easy casual look for shopping or a lunch date.
If you need a spring refresh for any of these items, here are some ideas you might try:
Since most of us are confined to the house (except for the ever-exciting trip to the grocery store!) during this Covid-19 crisis, it’s a good time to think of ways to restyle your wardrobe. To style transitional outfits for spring days just takes a little imagination. This is the time to try new color combos, like snakeskin and yellow, and to mix and match pieces you already have in your wardrobe. Even if you can’t wear it now, you’ll be ready for those first days outside-the-house soon enough with lots of fresh new style ideas in your repertoire. And won’t it feel good to look stylish and fashionable?!
Be well, my friends.
