Are you wild about red shoes? I’m not sure just what it is, but I have always absolutely loved red shoes. Red heels, boots, sandals, sneakers–you name it. When you add red shoes to an outfit, it just always feels special. Festive even. The latest trend takes advantage of our love of red shoes, and right now red slingback heels are especially hot.
Have you noticed all the very basic looks punched up a notch by simply adding red shoes to the outfit? In almost any catalog, and certainly on Pinterest, you will see basic jeans outfits–jeans and a white top–with red shoes. For me, this is perfect!
Speaking of Pinterest, check out these darling outfits with–you guessed it–red shoes!!
The good news? They don’t have to be sky-high heels. From flats to heels, any red shoe fits the bill.

Red Slingback Heels Outfit
Here’s the dilemma. SO many cute red shoes! SO little time to wear them all. And too little money to buy them all. Lol! The red slingback heels I’m styling today are a low-heel version that makes it easy to style this trend while keeping comfort key.
How cute are they? They are from Naturalizer. Now here I must confess that I thought of this brand as “old lady” shoes, but they have lots of very cute and comfortable styles. That’s what I get for stereotyping them, right? Lol! The curve shape gives them a more contemporary feel. The toe is pointed, but still comfortable.
For this trend, almost any white top will do. Your favorite white blouse would be perfect. In warmer climates, a white tee works fine. For winter weather, a chunky sweater will do the trick. And that’s how I’m styling this trend–with an oversized white mock-neck sweater. This is another amazing buy from one of the Target lines. While stock is limited in sizes, it’s also available in pink, red, and grey. Luckily, there a multitude of similar sweaters that will work in both mock and turtleneck styles. Here is a similar turtleneck tunic and a similar mock neck sweater version.
Medium wash are my jeans of choice for this outfit, but any jeans will work. A dark wash gives you a slimmer look, of course, but you could even wear your light wash jeans. Cropped, ankle, trouser, bootcut, straight–almost any type will work. Just be sure your amazing red shoes can be seen!
The pair featured here is from Universal Threads Jeans at Target. They have a high waist and are super comfortable. I like the well-worn look, but if you don’t, here is a darker pair of skinny jeans in the same style.
The Photo Shoot
We took these photos at our local outlet mall. I’ve mentioned before that this was NOT a welcome venue in our little town, but it has turned out to be a fun place to walk around and even shop occasionally. We are still waiting for the movie theater that is “coming soon” and some better restaurants. As you can see, the Christmas tree is really spectacular and can be seen from far away. (In this image, behind the palm trees!)
Oh, and of course, there is a Loft Outlet there! Their decorations are super cute and the reindeer in the balcony are dancing!
Remember, red shoes are not just for the holidays! They add a little pizazz to almost any outfit, any time of year!
Happy holidays to all!
