While it can be lots of fun to “dress up” for the holidays, one doesn’t have to go all glam. For a chic casual style, try a turtleneck midi dress for a casual, yet chic look.
And it’s important to say, you don’t have to spend a great deal to put together a cute holiday look. The piece I’m sharing today is totally affordable and can be worn for lots of events from professional to slightly dressy.
Turtleneck Midi Dress
A midi dress is just the right thing for fall and winter and even into spring. You can style them with flats, sandals, ankle boots, or knee-high boots. It would even work with a pair of sneakers for a totally casual look. Talk about versatility!
While a sweater material is a great choice for this time of year, some of them are awfully warm. Does anybody else struggle with that? So a rib-knit fabric, like this one, is a workable option that gives a similar look.
I love the cranberry color–or burgundy, or deep red, or whatever you choose to call it! A rich red like this gives a holiday vibe without too much fuss.
I plan to wear this to a work function that is an open house. I think it’s just right for such an event–not too over-the-top, yet festive.
With a $45 price tag (currently 50% off of that!), you can’t beat the price. Here are some of the features:
- Seamed mock neck.
- Long drop-shoulder sleeves.
- Elasticized waist.
- Seamed midi-length skirt.
- Side splits at hem.
The dress is also available in black and bottle green in regular, tall, and petite sizes. Grab yours quickly as these pieces don’t last–especially this year!
You can style it with or without the belt. I added this leather red belt for a bit of contrast in texture.
Another opportunity to style my brown suede boots! I love cranberry and brown together!
Speaking of cranberry and brown, here is the back story on my beautiful necklace.
I love to pull out a piece of jewelry that has meaning. Know what I mean? I have things my husband bought me on various vacations, or holidays, or anniversaries, as well as a few things from my mom and grandma. Just taking them out of the jewelry box brings back so many great memories.
My husband bought this piece for me on a trip to Northern Michigan with our old friends. There are lots of little shops in the Traverse City area, where artists make all kinds of unique pieces. We popped into a favorite of my friends and found this one.
Not only is it a memory of a special time with friends, but the stone is also unique to the area. I loved the mix of browns in the stone with the red garnets.
Here are some cool facts about this stone:
- Petoskey stones are the fossilization of ancient coral – Hexagonaria
- According to the website, Pure Michigan,
The Petoskey stone, Michigan’s state stone – and its lesser-known cousin, the Charlevoix stone – are unique to the Great Lakes and can be found along the shores of Michigan’s lower peninsula.
I really enjoy finding out where things come from, as you may have noticed from my posts! Lol!
Take a look at this cute rib-knit midi dress if you’re looking for a cute and comfy option for the holidays and beyond.
