Happy 2018! What did you do for New Year’s Eve? I hope you had a nice celebration for the New Year, whether from home on the couch or out on the town. We spent a fun overnight trip to San Diego–one of my favorite cities! We popped for a New Year’s package at the Manchester Grand Hyatt which is right at the harbor. Great service, a lovely water view, and a fun party. And what to wear? After far too much deliberation, I decided to wear the tuxedo pants and blouse from my recent Stitch Fix box.
The tuxedo pants and white blouse outfit
I asked for more unique pieces in my fixes from Stitch Fix and was happy to receive these two quality pieces. The tuxedo pants are made of a substantial fabric with a bit of sheen and have a beaded sparkly stripe along the sides. The top is beautifully made. I’m not sure you can see the details in the photos, but there are scallops along the placket front with pearl buttons. It is very classy–and classic–and, with all the details, there was no need for a necklace or bracelet. Both pieces are exclusive to Stitch Fix, but you can see how easy it would be to style an outfit with basic pieces like this.
The necklace I’m “styling” here is one from the party at Top of the Hyatt. And, obviously, so is the stylish hat! LOL! Please forgive the “background in this photo.” The party room was too dark for photos (but great for partying!), so we had to use the hall for this “photo shoot.”
To stay with the black-and-white tuxedo pants look, I wore my suede block heels which were great for dancing and were surprisingly comfortable with my not-yet-heeled ankle and foot. I admit that I did change into my flat sandals later in the evening, but I was so excited that I could wear my cute shoes for a while! A silver and black clutch and black statement earrings and the outfit was complete.
The days have been clear and beautiful until Sunday when it turned overcast and a bit chilly. I did get a few photos of the harbor area, including the Midway, and a few shots at Mission Bay. This area is normally nothing but blue skies and blue water, but not this weekend! Darn! I’ll head back down this spring and show some of the beauty of the San Diego area. In the meantime, here are a couple of photos.
The outfit above is from a previous post (you can view it here) with the pink sweater and scarf from Gap. The jeans are by Caslon from Nordstrom and have a great fit. Gray jeans are a super neutral piece to have in your wardrobe. They are also on sale–you can view them here. With the cool breeze, an oversized scarf like this is handy to have with you and I wrapped it around my shoulders later in the evening.
I hope your 2018 is off to a great start and that it is the beginning of a fabulous year for each of you.
