As a fellow blogger wrote, velvet is not going away anytime soon. Especially during the holidays. And who doesn’t like velvet? This lush fabric always feels elegant. To illustrate, I’m sharing two velvet pencil skirt outfits that are easy to put together for an elegant holiday look. Both outfits can be worn well past the holidays, too!
Velvet Pencil Skirt Outfits
First of all, the velvet pencil skirt. This is such an easy style and looks slimming on everyone. Don’t we all love that?! The skirt I’m styling is a pull-on style with a high waist that creates a slim line–great at hiding those lumps and bumps we don’t want to highlight! The stretch fabric is super smooth and feels great on.
A velvet skirt like this is something one can wear almost year-round. It’s not overly heavy, adds a little elegant style, and fits well. For a spring outfit, style it with a lacy tee and heeled sandals. Won’t it be perfect for Valentine’s Day with your special someone? Or your best girlfriends!
The Holiday Tops
The first top is in the quintessential holiday pattern–red plaid. Red plaid is a great look for all the holidays and all throughout the winter. This top is wearable all season as it’s made in a blouse fabric–meaning lightweight–and not a heavy woven or knit fabric. You’ll see it again with my black coated jeans.
Yikes, while these tops are new to me, the red plaid top already sold out in the store! I’ve linked to similar styles above.
Wouldn’t a top like this be perfect for Christmas day? Or Christmas Eve with jeans for a casual holiday at home. I’ve worn it for a holiday party, Christmas shopping, and with a blazer for a meeting. It’s super versatile!
In this post, it’s styled with the gorgeous velvet skirt and suede chunky heels for a dressier outfit.
The second top is a shell with a smocked, mock neck for a slightly dressier look. The fabric, described as jacquard, is a slightly burn-out velvet that is fully lined.
The color is called rustic red, and it’s a burgundy-ish shade of red. So pretty.
I’ve styled this outfit with the same chunky suede heels and also with a pair of bow mules in wine color. These mules have been a big trend this fall.
I’m not sure about wearing them for a dressy event, or even for a long night of celebrating, but they would be perfect to change into when your feet get tired. Does anybody else pack a pair of flats for a long party? Oh, yeah. We’ve learned a few things over time, haven’t we? Lol!
For both looks, I’ve kept jewelry simple and added Kendra Scott drop earrings and a gold bracelet. theses earrings are perfect for both elegant and casual outfits. These are my current favorites for holiday glam as they are both showing and classy.
While I neglected to show it, as the photos were all taken inside, I would add a leather moto jacket for warmth. I like the contrast of the elegant and classic with the edginess of a moto jacket. My favorite moto jacket is here, just in case you want to splurge for yourself this Christmas!
There are lots of holiday fashion items available, but most of these are from Loft. Their items sell out quickly (and have limited sizes!)–especially with their current sale–so act quickly.
I hope these two velvet pencil skirt outfits have inspired your holiday looks!
