At last, I am posting some photos from my wonderful trip to Northern Michigan! The best part was spending time with my BFF. The next best part is the great shopping. Kathi knows all the prime shopping spots so we hit quite a few stores with very different inventory. I love everything I bought, but my favorite item is this dress. So, today I’m sharing two ways to style a linen dress outfit.
We found this lovely linen dress in Charlevoix at a darling shop, pictured here:
It’s always so fun to find a shop like this that has such character. The buyer’s for each store truly show their style and personality by the clothing they select. This one speaks to quality and subtlety. The fabrics were cotton and linen in soft, elegant colors and tones.
One way to style a linen dress outfit
For the first photo, you see the dress styled as a tunic. As I was wearing my frayed-hem jeans, I tried it on with them and liked the look! It would look darling with a pair of leggings later on. I have a nice denim-y blue pair in a heavier fabric that will work perfectly this fall.
Do you like nautical prints? Somehow, they just say summer, right? And this red scarf really set it off.
The beauty of linen is its breathability which is why it is so popular in the summer. This linen dress is roomy enough to layer a slim fitting tee or turtleneck under. Think about that when you buy linen if you want to expand your options year-round.
A second way to style a linen dress outfit
The second way to style a linen dress outfit is by wearing the tunic as a dress!! Imagine that?!! Lol! Though it is a bit short, it works great for the warm summer heat. It would be a fantastic dress to take on vacation, as you could wear it as a dress, a tunic, and as a bathing suit cover up!
Light wash jeans | sandals | round woven bag | hoop earrings
A stand-up collar is a nice feature with the vee neck as it elongates your neck. I don’t know about you, but that is good for me! Note the cute ties on the three-quarter sleeves. This helps the dress stay current with trends. When you are shopping for a classic piece, like a linen dress, look for these little touches that make it stand out from the same old thing syndrome.
There is nothing like the comfort of a linen dress. If you are headed on vacation or still enjoying–and trying to get through–the crazy heat this summer, something like this might be just what you need.
In case you’re wondering, I am still committed to my “shopping diet!” I purchased the linen dress in July, not August, as promised. But you can see why I must go on this diet, as July was a BIG shopping month. Between the #NSale, my trip purchases, and various summer pieces picked up earlier in the month, I have a full wardrobe for now. I love to shop and find new things. And I especially love to share these finds with you, but there is a point where it just becomes too consumer-y. Hence, this little break.
Happy shopping…Happy travels…
A wonderfully versitile piece! I love the ways you styled it, especially layered over the pants. I always worry about pulling off that look but you were spot on!
