Happy Monday, my friends! There has been a great deal of buzz surrounding Pantone’s choice for the 2018 Color of the Year: UltraViolet. They choose a color each year to reflect the social atmosphere and predict what the year might hold. You may remember the 2017 color choice was “greenery.” Greenery was selected to reflect an emphasis on a return to natural things, including fabrics in men and women’s clothing, home and office furnishings, and even in makeup trends. I wrote a post last year discussing the color and my version of that color of the year; you can view it here.
9 ways to enjoy Ultraviolet
According to the Pantone website, UltraViolet signifies: “Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.”
How is that for an inspirational color?
You will see this color everywhere, and certainly in the fashion world. I have been searching for some pieces that showcase this truly rich color. Since it is a shade that leans toward the blue side of purple, I believe this color, or at least a shade of it, can work for everyone. For me, deep rich jewel tones like this work well with my skin tone, so I am busy shopping to find something to share with all of you. Stay posted!
To give you a taste of what’s out there, I selected the following pieces in UltraViolet, and included beauty products and even a yoga mat, since I imagine exercise is a part of everyone’s new year’s resolutions! Am I right? LOL!
