Since summer is all about casual, I’m sharing a cute paisley sweatshirt outfit. This is a look you can wear for an evening at the beach or around the campfire. Or just for running around town.
Do you love sweatshirts as much as I do? Part of my reason for starting this blog was to make sure I didn’t just move from professional attire to jeans and shorts with t-shirts and sweatshirts! (And sneakers and flip-flops for my shoe style! Lol!) Cause I tended to do that after working a long week wearing my suits and heels. After work and on Friday evenings I couldn’t wait to climb into my comfortable weekend uniform. I just didn’t want to get into a boring clothing rut.
I think it’s important to do whatever you can to feel good about yourself and to present the best YOU to the rest of the world. Clothes are only one way to do that, of course, but that old saying about first impressions…More importantly, clothes can help you get and keep your confidence–your moxie–regardless of what you do in the work world.
However, a sweatshirt doesn’t have to be huge and dowdy. There are lots of styles available and details to take them from frumpy to cute. You can still be ultra comfy yet still be fashionable. Case in point: this cute paisley sweatshirt!
The Paisley Sweatshirt Outfit
The neutral gray background in this paisley sweatshirt with a tulip hem makes it easy to style. Since the paisley print is full of color, so you could style it many things in your wardrobe. I’m sharing three simple ways to style a cute sweatshirt top like this.
Style it with a Denim Skirt
A white denim skirt is SUCH a wardrobe essential, especially in the summer. I styled it first in the post, White Denim Skirt Outfit for Summer Casual. The easy fit of this skirt and the length is just right for those of us who don’t want a mini-skirt.
I was torn between styling it with an indigo denim skirt or the white one. After looking at the photos, I’m thinking it would look best with the darker-washed denim skirt. Try it and you can decide for yourself.
You may remember a powder pink version of these slip-on sneakers. These Ecco slip-on sneakers are honestly THE most comfortable sneakers ever, so I picked up this pair in light gray. (All colors are on sale.) They will be perfect for sightseeing on our upcoming trip! And the pewter travel handbag I shared in the last post, coordinates nicely with the shoes, as it’s a neutral color.
Try it with Pink Shorts
The combination of pink and grey is always so pretty. These pink shorts pull out the pink tones in the paisley. Neutral heeled sandals give the outfit a bit of polish. Pink and brushed silver earrings complete this outfit.
Wear it with Jeans
Ah, the old basic jeans look can’t be beat. For a cool summer evening, these cuffed jeans and a sweatshirt are a definite go-to choice. Add these simple black slides (so popular!) to give it that summer vibe. (You can catch my photobomber, Sergeant, once again! He’s flaunting his new haircut! Such an elegant boy.)
If you prefer a solid sweatshirt, you’ll be glad to know that the same sweatshirt, with the tulip hem, comes in white, pink, and blue.
If you’re like me and love the softness and comfort of a sweatshirt, try this dressed up paisley sweatshirt outfit for a little extra color and style this summer.
Cute outfits! Lise
Thanks so much, Lise! I hope you are doing well. Thanks for the feedback.

Paisley Princess is what you are. Love the cross cross front. So cute!
How sweet are you, Andrea?! Since summer is taking its time to get here along the coast, sweatshirts are needed–unfortunately! At least there are so many cute ones now, right?
xx Darlene
Hi Darlene, Thought I would drop by and see what you were up to. I agree about sweat shirts and wear them at least three seasons of the year. In Missouri, summers can be pretty brutal so they do get put away at that time. Yours is so cute and I have to admit that I’ve never seen one with a tulip style hem. Is it lighter than a traditional sweatshirt? Love your scene stealer there-they like to be around don’t they?
Nice meeting you and have a wonderful week.
Terri
Hi, Terri. So glad you dropped by! Along the coast here we can often wear sweatshirts in the evening or at the beach. I have a feeling the grey might be too heavy for your summer, though it is a bit lighter than a typical sweatshirt. I suspect the white or pink would be even lighter. Let me know if you decide to try one. Yes, our Sergeant has to be right underfoot whenever possible!! Haha.
Nice to meet you, too!

I love sweatshirts Darlene! It’s my go to no matter what season. They are just so dang comfy and nowadays, too cute! Love the paisley print of yours and the tulip hem. It makes it styling that much more better because it’s already perfect as is! I like the pink shorts paired with it. Casual and chic! I hope you had a great weekend and happy Monday!
