There are so many jeans styles to choose from it can boggle the brain. Skinny? Straight? Cropped? Mid-rise or high rise? Bootcut or flared? Dark wash or light wash, distressed, whiskered…yikes! Who can decide?!
I recently filled out a survey for a designer clothing delivery service. (Like Stitch Fix–more about that in a later post.) When I was instructed to check the boxes for my favorite style of jeans, I was honestly baffled. I like them all! Lol! So, I checked almost all of them! That definitely doesn’t mean they all like me, however.
I’ve tried many of them and have had great success, but you really have to find the brand that has your best fit. My very best fit would be Nordstrom’s Wit & Wisdom in Petites. I just put them on and go. For designer jeans, which I don’t buy very often, I love Paige and Frame. I know lots of ladies really like the AG brand.
For inexpensive jeans, and when I want to give a new style a trial run, I often choose Universal Threads from Target. They have lots of colors and styles at affordable prices. And they generally fit nicely, too! Target is now carrying some of the newest Levi’s styles, too, so I will have to check them out. Remember when the term “Levi’s” was used to describe all jeans? They were the most prominent, and in some cases, the only brand out there! Am I aging myself? Lol! Most likely!
Today, I thought I’d share some of the many jeans styles I’ve featured in my posts. As I say, I like them all, but most definitely, they don’t all look amazing on me!
My Favorite Jeans Styles

Mom Jeans
OK, these are my all-time favorites. I just feel good in them and I believe they flatter my shape the best. Maybe I only like them because Madewell described them as “jeans your mom wore in the 90s–if she was a fashion model.” Haha! That line probably sold a few pairs, right?
Ankle Jeans
I have several pairs of Wit & Wisdom ankle jeans, and these ankle jeans are my favorite. They have lots of stretch but don’t bag out. They also have their signature Ab-solution fit system to shape, smooth, and lift in all the right places. These jeans come in lots of washes and styles for regular, petite, and plus-size women. (The grey is sold out, but I’ve linked to the same style in a dark wash.)
Wide-Leg Jeans
Even though I got a snarky comment on FaceBook from some anonymous guy, I love this wide-leg style! With my shorter stature, they aren’t the most slimming on my frame, but I just like them! So there! I’ve linked to a few similar styles here.

Super High Waist
This pair of jeans is a newer style for me. They feature a super-high waist with a button-up front. They also have “released hems” which is a cool detail. The super high waist is surprisingly comfortable and pretty slimming–a good thing! (It turns out this pair is also described as a “mom” style. Hmmm.)

Light Wash Jeans
While I know that a darker wash is more slimming, my absolute fav is a pair of light wash jeans. The lighter color feels more summery to me and they look so great on a warm sunny day with a cute top or tee! These are the straight-leg style which is the biggest trend in jeans right now. What goes around, comes around, don’t you think? In the evolution of jeans, a straight leg was about all you could get in the early days! I think I’ve written about how, as teenagers, we used to “peg” our pants to make them more form-fitting. Kind of the first evolution of the skinny jean! Ha!
Paige Straight Jeans with Raw Hem
Another cool pair of jeans that I pull out now and again is featured in the post, Flashback to the 70s in Split Hem Jeans, and again in the post, Pink Duster Outfit for a Feminine Look. Asos has a cute pair of black split hem jeans. And check out these super cool white split hem jeans from Sanctuary! When you need a retro fix, give those a try!
Well, I could go on and on with jeans styles I’ve tried, but these are my current favorites. That might change next week, however!! How about you? What are YOUR favorite jeans styles?
Loving all these outfits, you look great! I really like the ideas of tying a scarf on you belt loop!
Life is a Shoe
Thanks, Celyn. When I have an outfit that’s all neutral, I do like to add a scarf somewhere, even if it’s just tied on my handbag. Have a great weekend!

You look good in all the styles Darlene! I particularly like the button front jeans. I’m constantly seeking narrow straight leg jeans, they’re the only ones that suit me. Thanks for linking at #WowOnWednesday x
Thanks so much, Gail! I like them all, but I know what you mean–they don’t all look great on all of us. There seems to be more interest in the slimmer straight-leg, as it’s most flattering.

Darlene, I am just like you and basically love any and all styles of jeans whether they flatter me or not! And to heck with snarky Facebook guy, I really like those wide legged ones on you! During my recent closet clean out, I discovered that I own nearly 100 pairs of jeans in different styles, washes, colors, etc. And I really do love them all…some more than others obviously. So far my favorite for flattering fit on me is Torrid denim. But I have lots of Gap and Old Navy and Target ones that also work. Thanks for linking!

Oh, I forgot to mention that I definitely chuckled at your pegged pants reference! I do remember those days well!
Shelbee
Haha! I love that! Glad to hear somebody can relate!!

Oh, I love hearing that you have that many pairs of jeans!! Haha! I didn’t count mine, but it’s probably pretty close! Thanks for the wide leg agreement–I like them, too, and love to wear them! I will have to look at Torrid–they’re a local store by you, right? Thanks, Shelbee, and have a great Thursday!

I’m starting to like jeans a bit more. And there are so many different styles right. The ankle lenght ones are my favorite!
You look great in pants, Nancy, so jeans are great for you, too! I would say I like ankle the best, too. Have a lovely weekend, my friend!

I completely agree with you that it is hard to choose a favorite style of jeans! I love my skinnies, my straight-legs mom jeans, my wide legs, and I refuse to get rid of my 70’s inspired flares because…they will come back in style again! =) These pairs all look fabulous on you.
I hope you are having a great week!

Hey, flares are totally having a moment right now so pull them out!! I like those, too, but have trouble finding sizes with my short legs! Lol! Happy Saturday, Amber!

I really need some more diversity in my jeans collection but I want to thrift them to make sure I don’t waste too much money if I end up not liking a style at all. I love my wit and wisdome jeans and want to grab another pair or two and I really like my Daily Ritual jeans from Amazon too.

Yes, I’ve heard that Amazon’s Daily Ritual are a good buy! Keep your eye on Universal Threads at Target, too. They are inexpensive and have them on sale often, too! Thanks, Mireille! Have a great weekend.

I recently got pair of Universal Thread jeans from Target and I really love them. My other go to is American Eagle, I love their high rise jeggings. I do like raw hems on jeans and they seem to be popular right now!

Yes, I like Universal Thread jeans a lot, too! Good to know about AE–I will check them out! Thanks, Carrie.

My absolute favorite jeans are the light wash as well! These are great ones. Love them all on you beautiful lady!
Aw, thanks, sweet Andrea! You always look good in whichever ones you choose! The light wash is just the coolest, though, isn’t it?

There surely are so many jeans styles to choose from nowadays! I love to have a variety of styles in my closet as well, but in the winter I usually reach for my skinny jeans because I always wear some sort of boots and they are easy to style with boots, then in the warmer months I like ankle and crop styles.
I’ve not tried wide leg jeans yet, but they do look fabulous on you! And I can see why the Madewell mom jeans are your favorites! They look so stylish! I’d love to add a pair of mom-jeans to my closet!
Oh, good, so I’m not the only “vintage” style jeans lover! lol! I think you’d really like the fit. Same with wide-leg–something a bit different and super comfy. I see what you mean Ellie. Have a happy Wednesday!
