How are you spending your time as we all stick close to home? And what are you wearing? I’m forcing myself to shower and dress and even wear a little makeup most days. Notice I said most. That isn’t to say that I haven’t spent a few days in sweats and slippers! Lol! But I want to try for some normalcy and put something together that doesn’t scream, “I’m just kicking around the house today–again!” Hence these super easy poplin pants.
How are you doing? It doesn’t take long to feel a bit bored during this “stay at home” time, does it? I know I could and should be cleaning and organizing but we’ve had dreary rainy days that make me want to curl up and read or watch a movie. Aside from a few trips in search of toilet paper (so far, no go), and one trip to get my roots touched up, I’ve spent my time at home doing my bit.
Oh, no, you say. You went to the hair salon?! I spoke with my stylist of 20 years and the owner who are friends of mine. They assured me they were cleaning and asking clients to wash hands when they got there, so I felt I had to go. It’s the kind of place you do feel safe in. Hey, if I have to sit home for the next few–or several–weeks, I don’t want to do it with ugly hair!!
So I actually had an excuse to put on a halfway decent outfit and you are seeing it today.
The Poplin Pants Outfit
When I ordered these pants over two weeks ago, it was with the thought that they would be perfect for my South America trip coming up in May. This is the trip my son and I have been planning for a long time. First to Peru to see Machu Picchu, then back to Ecuador and the Galapagos. He had to beg to get his work schedule to allow for a full 12 days off. Alas, it’s not to be this year. I know that many of you had plans, too, so we will all just persevere.
In any case, these lightweight poplin pants seemed like just the right things to wear. My pair is from Loft and almost sold out, but here is a similar pair of poplin pants with the same features. They have an elastic waist and are loose-fitting with a rolled hem.
While there is a break in the rain, it’s a chilly low 60s today, so a basic black turtleneck sweater (similar sweater here) made a good choice. Later, they will be great with a tee.
For a little contrast, I added a leopard calf-hair belt. While you can’t see it, I also switched out my iWatch band to a leopard one my son bought me last year.
Once again, these wedge slip-on sneakers are my shoes of choice. I love these shoes so much! Stylish and comfy can’t be beat.
I hope that you and your families are safe and healthy. We can all get through this and, with planning, be better prepared should this ever happen again. Let’s all try to relax and enjoy our homes and each other. Sending you all my warmest wishes for good health.
